That is a fair point. To me its horrible because I can no longer even share library with someone who is nearby but travels a lot. Not to mention, I dont accept that games I own cant be shared with people who arent nearby geographically. But its even more absurd that steam’s whatever system forbids even people who arent regularly nearby, its not just me, I’ve heard that from multiple people.
It may be better for certain cases as you said. But there is no doubt in my mind that the goal was, at least partially, to stop people from sharing games in general. And I dont support that. I should be able to send my game to someone if I purchased it, and steam locking you from playing that game should be more than enough restriction in sharing.
You are fair to disagree, there are multiple points you can say about my critiques here. Like steam doing this to subsidize the cost of hosting games and downloads. But for me, this family sharing change and me not being able to share with someone bc they travel was enough to push me over the fence of quitting steam. So to me, the family sharing change is a huge deal.
Yeah I’ve heard of issues people have with actually getting a family setup, I’m not sure what the rules are as I’m sharing with someone who lives in Europe (I’m in the us) and also someone who’s on the opposite side of the US as I am
