    Well, I didn’t even know that transgender people existed until my 20’s because of her. Also ‘gay’ was the most common insult throughout my childhood.

      I never heard “gay” as an insult until I moved when I was 12, then I heard it a lot from the kids in my new school, always thought it was fucked up, and didn’t like the kids who were saying it.

        It was 100% normal for me - we were all using it at a young age (or local insults meaning the same) without really even knowing what it meant. I don’t think I realised that gay people really existed until I was a teenager.
