Sometimes my feed is like half German memes
Lol, I just translate them and laugh along with em.
I’m American, sorry.
Now do it in German 😆
Müssen drücken diese Nummern hoch,
das sind Anfänger Zahlen.
I am enjoying the riceballs much more than the Presidential idiocy randomiser.
I deliberately subscribed to them lol

Nah, just block the ich_iel community. The rest is majority English
@Mika@sopuli.xyz !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world I’m Brazilian and oftentimes the “All” feed across the entire Lemmy ecosystem feels, in fact, like a smoothie mashup between European-specific political issues and USian-specific political issues, so, when it comes to the phenomenon that the European Fedizens feel on Lemmy, not only we feel the same, but we, Fedizens from the Global South, we feel it twice!
At least when it comes to sport, we speak one language
Football.
Soccer is amazing innit?
@wieson@feddit.org Well, I’m not really into sports (I’m far detached from the stereotypical Brazilian who likes to watch Corinthians x Palmeiras/Flamengo x Fluminense/etc at Fridays while they’re gathering with their friends in a bar while drinking cachaça, I’m more of a nerdy and friendless person), but indeed, soccer/football is definitely part of a cultural aspect shared among European countries (especially Germany, Portugal and Spain, as far as I know) and Brazil (as well as other South American countries, such as Argentina).
Ouch.
be the change you want to see in the .world
People don’t post or comment and wonder why there is no content relevant to themselves
It’s a mystery /s
(/j)
You joke, but I would welcome this.
Amigo, a tu español le falta mas práctica. Muy apenas se te entiende.

@InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world @carotte@lemmy.blahaj.zone
Pois é, o bagulho tá mó difícil de entender, o pessoal parece que não desembucha na hora de prosear 😅

¿Se les quemó la lengua a los dos?

oui, baguette
Omelette du fromage
French just has a certain…
Ashamed American here and I assume your comment was in French, and those are the only two things I have even the vaguest clue how to pronounce in French (but I had to look up the spelling!)
Funny enough, as you suggested, I popped your text into a translator after typing out the above and using my limited second language knowledge, and it turns out, I managed to get the general gist of it without the help of a translator!
Gute Idee. Machen wa so.
Ich hatte einige Jahre Französisch und hab sogar ungefähr gecheckt was du meinst, geil.
Right. For example my browser did a perfectly cromulent job of translating what you just wrote into a language I can read …… unless you weren’t talking about a plot to take over the world
It’s also nice when they come into our country-specific subs to tell us how things are in the US, as we get so little news about the US.
I hear more news from the US than my own country. Granted, my own country’s politics are people respectfully discussing policy matters while US politics is like a circus and a pro wrestling league combined, with unimaginably high stakes.
I seek out the non-US perspective. Sometimes you need someone else to show you that the Emperor has no clothes.
Or sometimes just to have a sane conversation.
Given practically any forward looking or quality of life topic: here it’s dominated by politics, illegal program cuts, incompetent leaders selected only for personal loyalty, breaking it for the sake of breaking it. Can’t we discuss things like adults?
“worldnews”: American local news
It ain’t even local news. What we have now, is anybody’s guess.

Even as an American and as a supporter of the freedom of these federated model, I have to wonder if there should be a mandated taxonomy. I don’t want to restrict anyone’s freedom of expression, but I want there to be some basic organization such that I can be an informed consumer

“worldnews”: only in Ohio
It’s not even “news” - a lot of that shit is just Clown-President does yet another thing that a Clown would do.
Ahhhh…I get you…like the World Series.
It makes me laugh when Europeans makes these comments. If you want to see more European centric content… post it. Its free to do.
People write as though Americans need to stop interacting with the platform, when the solution is really to increase European engagement, which falls on them to do.

Anyone else outside US and Europe: do we exist?
Only if you’re israel
Ye we do.
Apparent we do not

LW is hosted in germany, and it’s admin/owner is based in the neatherlands.
I mean, it’s called .world, it’s not crazy to assume people from around the world would interact there

You might be on to something 🤔
Yup
why is it decapitated
Meme template.
Trump will probably give Alaska to Putin tomorrow.
I’ve blocked quite a few very popular communities because I don’t understand their language. I’m guessing they’re still popular? Europe as a whole, seems to be quite popular (or it was, I’ve blocked them).
Had me in the first half. Thought this was, once again, about 'Muricans. No comprendo, no parlan gut Englisch
I wish I was in Europe. Where I could pretend that news about our downfall was for a time at a distance and would never affect me.
Oh don’t worry it will affect us alright, it’s just that we don’t have any say in whatever happens there.
Like any of us do? I’m just waiting for lines to be drawn where I know where I can stand.
You are a citizen of the state. You might not be able to do it alone, but it’s your mess to fix, when all other means fail (voting, institutions etc).
I do what I can in a deeply red state where putting a democratic anything in your yard or on your car gets you attacked. When the lines are drawn I will probably be in the nearest blue zone which I guarantee will draw troops. Its the plan to occupy the cities and terrorize the populace to violence. Then they are just defending themselves against ‘evil’ terrorist. Its what they did when George Floyd was killed. They incited the violence and used it as an excuse to injure and kill protesters.

No I’m not. I don’t know exactly how you gathered that from my statement but you are way off.

End stage capitalism comes for all nations given enough time.
Name one? The romans were not capitalists.
South Korea.
Still a democracy. They actually put CEO’s in jail there.
Sure, but the obsessive focus on econimic growth is directly responsible for their birthrate plummeting to a disasterous level. And well, they may still have a democracy and some CEO’s may see jailtime there, but I have personally heard a few too many stories about the rich and powerful over there getting away with shit. Plus the country is pretty much owned and run by Samsung.
Sort by new and you’ll find it’s a bunch of Germans too. Ich liebe meine deutschen Freunde der Nacht.
