    Well, always felt that.

I’ve had that feeling over photos taken 2 days prior.

I can’t tell if it’s just some mild version of body-dysmorphia

I’d change that as : “Being an adult is mostly realizing you didn’t look as bad as you thought you did because the only person that was concerned about that was you. Everyone else was doing their own thing focusing on themselves, just like they are now.

I’ve always loved the word “sonder”. Knowing that people have their own lives and thoughts and usually they aren’t centered on you at all is liberating. I wish I had run across this as a kid, to realize that the peer pressure I thought was there giving me anxiety was totally self-inflicted and I could just be myself.

That’s a cool concept, but a made up word.

Language evolves, sure. But making up words is like genetically engineering a third leg or something.

IIRC this particular word emerged in a blog post published explicitly to propose a bunch of new words.

So yes I do realise that all words have an etymology, but most were not created in the course of self aggrandizement.

But I mean like… so what?

There was a need/desire for a word describing this concept, it was created, and is now used. It’s a new word

Fuck that I look way better.

I look older, sure. With less hair. A lot more single. But I’m down 90lbs and I’ve finally figured out style

The key to a successful relationship is to have one partner that is sort of ok with doing the laundry and one partner that is sort of ok with doing the dishes.

This is so true. That’s how my husband and I divide things. True, I dislike laundry, but I absolutely loathe the dishes. He is the opposite.

Partner and I are the same! They begrudgingly do the dishes while I absolutely loathe them, and vice versa with the laundry.

This is why I took a lot of time to make sure everything has a place without moving things out of the way.

…which my partner then saw as extra space and filled back up again.

Nah, with age I become wiser and my look is more or less stable for the last 20 years. Just more white hair but that doesn’t look bad.

    You’re maturing wrong :)

Yes, men definitely grow old better when it comes to looks. Women live longer than men though.

It’s not the absence of youth that makes women less beautiful. It’s the absence of representation.

Men at 45: “distinguished.” Women at 45: “expired.” It’s not biology—it’s storytelling. We don’t see ugly old men as ugly—we see them as powerful, confidant, sexy. We don’t see aging women at all.

          That’s not nature. That’s propaganda

Yes it’s societal values, you’re framing the narrative much too negative though. Old age for women isn’t all bad, older women stereotypically radiate trust and comfort for example. Look at Betty White and Dolly Parton, their age is a strength to them.

My previous comment was just about beauty. Superficial, societal, subjective beauty. Women are much more beautiful than men in general, but that usually fades with time. The beauty of men never tops that of women, but it can still grow with age.

Honestly I just want some ideas for mixing up my style. I’m jealous of my wife and daughter for all of the fun dresses and jewelry and whatnot they can do but masculine outfits don’t really allow for many options

There is if you know where to look, but yeah, I feel you. I want to wear long flowy coats and such, but they’re all cut at the goddamn hip.
