People love the rosa winkle for its association with gay men and transvestite from Nazi Germany. Sure, but it’s not a universal LGBT symbol, it’s just for the gay men. The schwarzes dreieck is the equivalent for lesbians, who were just as equally persecuted by the Nazis. It shows up in the old Labrys flag as a reclaimed symbol and I feel like we should remember both, not just the men.

Huh, good to know. I know of a company that makes tuck kits and tape that uses it in their logo. I feel like I remember reading a post on their blog about the history of the symbol that included trans and gnc folk. I’ll see if I can track it down, but I had also thought it was just used for gay men in Nazi Germany when I first learned about that period in school.
