No, the area is not even very populated. I noticed that local forests usually have “Hai” (shark) rather than “Hain” (woods) in their names for some reason, and used OSM to verify that it’s a very localized phenomenon.
Just because they have a lot of sharks does not mean they have to have more attacks.
It could simply be the calming nature of the woods removes any desire for the sharks to bite.
They are having a huge bark beetle problem – the worst in Germany. The woods are more disturbing than calming.
