i don like them links. like - tell me what’s in the link, don’t just “rule” and put a link.

i believe that this is not a very lemmy thing to do. especially on mobile, where it leaves the app and opens some shiddy proprietary other social media platform in your browser.

      its not that they dont like links, its that they dont like having links with no description that you have to click on and open to understand, and most of those are links to proprietary websites like youtube and othed large social media.

        yes this exactly what i mean. these empty posts where it’s just a link, maybe even with the title header unchanged from the actual article title, which is usually super click-baity…

          Some apps like boost don’t show what the web version shows.

          I didn’t even realize this was a issue until you corrected the commenter.

            what exactly are u refering to? u mean my username or the dropdown thingy?

            i never used boost cuz proprietary software, but i kinda wanna know how these clients handle the posts stuffs.

              Both, display names don’t show on the android clients I’ve tried so far.

              The drop-down menu shows on Voyager but not others I’ve tried.

                what do you mean by display names? i’m only aware of the one display name which i see on the web-client and on Jerboa, my lemmi app.

                does boost only show the initial, unedited username you have set? that seems kinda not so cool… imma be honest… ;(

                when i change ma name, i want peeps to see it! and not see some old deadname! yesyes, if how i describe it is the case, thats very not cool… ~

                  Well yeah that’s the display name.

                  And not just boost but others as well some bigger ones like Voyager don’t show display names as well.

          yeah its supposed to be a place to share links. the problem is when the post is just a link with no explanation of what the link is.
