Wasting? Sure. Causing a supply shortage? No.
You don’t think nearly 4 million extra users are going to hurt supply?
It’s mainly because of a manufacturing issue. Increased demand is certainly a factor but there is undeniably much less stimulant medication available than normal from manufacturers.
So there’s multiple factors. Including people wasting the supply.
The government actually limits how much each manufacturer is allowed to produce, that’s the actual cause of the shortage.

They aren’t even actually good for cheating on tests. I’d understand if they were getting high.
