I thought they called it Soylent as kind of a joke. I’m sure they’re already fully aware of what Soylent Green is lol

The green bottles came out around 2018. I was there for it. I bought them and I drank them and they were delicious. The book Soylent Green and the movie Soylent Green were 1960s 1970s. The creator of the nutritional beverage Rob Reinhardt has a dark wry sarcastic sense of humor and he named his new creation Soylent on purpose because of his sense of humor, before he had any idea his invention would take off on an international level of popularity. His invention first became publicly available around 2013. He has made motions and attempts to rename the brand but it has become so popular, name and product, that he & Rosa Foods are leaving the name alone for now.

They have a lot of flavors that were amazing but they discontinued them for some reason:

            Cafe chai

            Cafe Vanilla

Nectar (I personally liked it and heard a lot of other people liked it too, but more people didn’t like it so it was discontinued, it tasted like the milk you get when you’re done with the bowl of Fruity Pebbles cereal)

Coffiest (for people who like coffee it was great, I don’t like coffee, but this was their first caffeinated variety which was great)

Original (not sure if they still make it but that was my favorite for a long time because it didn’t trigger my taste bud receptors therefore it didn’t make me crave sugar)

            Banana

Strawberry (Maybe it still exists, I don’t know)

As far as meal replacement shakes go, Soylent is the least offensive to your mouth if not in its name.

The mint one is especially good. But they certainly can’t replace a meal, IMO. They don’t really do anything at all to make you feel full enough that they actually satisfy hunger. I tend to have them for breakfast, but with toast or a bagel to actually feel like I ate.

My brother managed to drink only it for a while and it gave him crazy bad poops initially but it balanced out. He’s just the soulless kind of guy it’s meant for, he didn’t miss the taste of real food in the slightest.

He’s kicked it, though, probably because it really isn’t great long term as the only thing you eat.

I lived on the Soylent bottles for quite a while, but one particularly busy active summer 2021 it landed me in the hospital because it turns out Soylent has no sodium, and if you have no sodium in your body then you end up in the hospital on a saline drip. Lesson learned and I share that lesson with everyone every time this topic comes up.

I did the Soylent thing for 6 months for breakfast and lunch and ate normal for dinner, but after a while I just started to loathe the taste and texture. Then they jacked up the prices so I stopped my subscription.

          That’s insane.

That it doesn’t have salt, I mean. I remember when this stuff first came out and its creator was going around on talk shows and the like, talking about it and it was literally supposed to give you everything your body needed to survive. Which should include sodium.

Used to have it for lunch every day and it wasn’t bad at all, knew the recipe by heart at some point…

That was my experience with Soylent, but huel works for me.

The powdered versions of Soylent are much more satiating. I’m pretty sure they intentionally formulated the liquid kind to not be so satisfying, you know cuz people buy more when they’re still hungry, And when people buy more, Soylent earns more.

    • Huel was my fave for a while.

But even having it twice a day (breakfast + Lunch) I maintained weight but felt forever hungry. So it was kinda shit.

Also if you didn’t clean the flask straight after it turned into a biological warfare weapon.

Oh and the backend result was not pleasant. Lots of gas and floaty cauliflower shit.

Whoa they still exist? I remember getting a bunch some long ass time ago and it was decent but pretty expensive. I don’t think they had flavours like this though.

I got some from vybey about a year ago. They sent out promo codes because of slow shipping, and I stacked that with a sale discount and free shipping to get about 500 powder meals for 35% off. I only eat them after gym sessions or while hiking so they gonna last me a long time.

I used to live on those when they cost a little over $1 per bottle. The price inflation now is outrageous. Anyway I stopped drinking Soylent mid-2021 soon after they switched their sweetener to allulose. My body did not like allulose. I drink Jimmy Joy Plenny Shake now, and eat MealSquares.
