Threatening a foreign citizen (and former PM no less) with

    1. Invasion of his home country
    2. Expelling him from that country
    3. Forcing him into manual labor in another country (which also is currently independent)

That is insane, even as a joke.

I find it hilarious that the little bitch-boy thinks he has any ground to speak to a respected world leader who served as PM for just shy of a decade.

Also, Trudeau in all his good-natured gentleness would absolutely fuck Shapiro up one-on-one.

Ever read anything by Terry Brooks? He had a series of modern fantasy books where the world is basically ending, demons walk amongst us, that kinda thing. Anyway, servants of the void who “sold their soul” were known as Once-Men. As in they were human once, but not anymore. I always found that rather fitting…

He’s one of my favorite authors; I’ll always recommend reading anything by Terry Brooks!

Have you heard of the Shanarra series? There was a TV series some years back based on the books that aired on MTV. Plus just a whole bunch of books he wrote. Anyway, Shanarra is a fantasy setting in the general style of Tolkien, but with lots of cool unique twists. Anyway, in the books he hints that the world used to be a lot like ours, but then apocalyptic wars reawoke magic while science and technology of course were lost. Eventually he did write I think two trilogies that start in a near modern alternate Earth and describes the series of events that transform that start into the fantasy setting he’d established previously.

Oh, and recently he apparently blew up the world of Shanarra for good! Like, on a cosmic scale the bad guys win I guess, so game over? I dunno I haven’t had a chance to read the last trilogy yet so no spoilers!

If you’re new to the series, he recommends starting with Sword of Shanarra. But if you want to read in the order of chronological events, then you should start with Running with the Demon.

America is currently waiting and sleeping through the time when a civil war or attacking the terrorists is possible. Germany would never have escaped the clutches of the Nazis without outside help. The stupid thing about a world power, however, is that once it has reached this status, nothing helps. Technology is now so advanced that it is no longer a problem.

        Counterpoint:

The nazis collapsed not because of foreign intervention but because their ideology held that they were all super special boys and everyone else on the planet was subhumans to be subjugated - same as this administration.

These guys are duck-ups and what they want to do is either pointless or harmful to themselves.

          Bullshit.

The downfall of the Nazis was because they attacked Russia but were in no way prepared for the Russian winter. Where many soldiers simply froze to death (one must not forget meth or Panzerschokolade). This means that soldiers who are overtired do not realize that when they are tired, the body no longer works at 100%, making it more susceptible to cold and producing less heat). This mass death from the cold gave the USSR the opportunity not to be overrun and to push back the Nazis. Had it not been for the winter, the USSR would have fallen. America would have had an enemy over a much larger area (this was all before the Americans were able to seize all the knowledge of the Germans), the Germans were already close to completing the atomic bomb… as well as stealth airplanes etc. Believe me, if so many had not frozen to death in the East (fortunately) it would all have ended very differently.

So you’re saying that they believed themselves to be special boys and that the Russians were subhumans to be easily subjugated?

The “no foreign intervention” line is pretty nonsensical when the Nazis collapsed from foreign bodies entering their heads at high velocity.

Yes, it happened because they were moronically arrogant and started a war they couldn’t win, but there’s literally nothing more worthy of the term intervention than someone killing your ass.

The arrogance does not cause the collapse. The reaction to the arrogance causes it.

They had everyone ready to appease them at the start, but they kept going.

The arrogance causes our reaction which causes the collapse.

I understand and agree with your point that the arrogance is both their motivation and downfall, I just don’t agree that it should be phrased as arrogance causing their defeat itself.

The Nazis weren’t beaten because they were arrogant. The people they hurt and tried to hurt have their own agency, and it was their choices and actions that beat the Nazis.

That’s important. It takes deliberate effort to beat fascism, from everyone opposed to it.

Lol no. Check the link. The collapse began with russian winter… Cause most died there. This and just this was the beginn of the collaps. Your comment feals the pretty arrogang american way.

Before you think up something again. Yes, the Americans and Russians are partly responsible for the downfall of the Nazis and without their active intervention the collapse would never have happened. But without the mass deaths caused by the winter, it wouldn’t have helped either.

Yeah just like the “bank run” on FTX wasn’t what caused it to go bankrupt, it was actually the owner’s hubris.

In much the same way that the fire didn’t burn the house down, it was the tenant buying matches four days earlier.

If you’re willing to go that many levels down to get to the root cause of an event you might as well say the nazis being humans is what caused the collapse.

Exactly, they will bring themselves down through their own virtuosic incompetence.

They are too fucking ignorant of history to understand that by replacing experienced, intelligent leadership with loyalists who believe their own propaganda, is that they have given their opposition the gift of competence. Now the Resistance will have leadership that knows how to really wage war, as well as thousands of insider government workers who hate their stupid arrogant MAGA slavemasters, and will be willing moles, leakers, saboteurs, etc.

Let us all remember that when the Soviet Union fell, they did not end the Cold War, they just changed tactics.

It’s well known that their most effective tactic for destabilizing a nation is to pour resources into boosting both sides of every debate or social issue, this poisons the well so nobody knows what’s real and just defaults to whatever the controlling party says is real. It’s an astoundingly effective tactic for killing the spread of news and information that people could use to organize, and sowing infighting and distrust between potential oppositional groups.

They are doing a very similar tactic right now, by boosting absurdism like the whole narrative of an “armed takeover of Canada” as if that’s even possibly a thing. Casual browsers know somewhere in the back of their mind that it’s absurdism, but they hang on every word because it’s sensational.

This is WWE theater. Like the whole administration since the beginning, it’s designed to spin stories to keep dumb fucks engaged and wondering what’s going to happen next, simultaneously believing in the stories but also knowing logically it’s not true. Literally the same cognitive dissonance that made us have to argue with our friends back in the 90’s that no, the World Wrestling Federation is NOT employing actual necromancers, that no, it’s not a real sport, no the performers would not be allowed to bring swords and weapons into the ring if it was real.

USA has no actual intention of taking over countries like Canada and Panama, they just want to make some huge distraction and sensational story, so that when they change interest rates or deregulate some banking laws, nobody will notice. We’ll all be here arguing with each other if it’s even possible for the USA to “take over” a neighboring nation, with the same earnestness that we used to explain that using a steel chair in a sporting event could be considered disqualifying in normal circumstances.

This isn’t to say the rhetoric isn’t dangerous, but what they’re doing financially is going to be far more damaging to our actual future in America.

Under almost any other administration, I’d agree with you, but Trump either isn’t thinking rationally or seriously misunderstands reality; his behavior repeatedly goes against his own interests.
