I always thought the idea of creating fake dummy databases, or fake servers for them to interact with, was the way to do this. get them changing all the numbers in a spreadsheet generated by a large language model. get them to interact with a server connected entirely to other virtualized servers and existing in its own little world.

If the word shit in the title makes it NSFW for your workplace then you really should be on any social media. Also the picture says shit

When my younger kids were little, one of their older sisters used to play with them as the anti-hero The Nuisance. She would just get in their way, turn them around, open cabinet doors if they closed them, or close them if they opened them, gently grab them and lay them on the floor, move objects to block them, nothing violent or mean really she just kinda followed and jammed them. It was really funny.

Their intent isn’t to take control of it for their own purporses, its to destroy it. They’ll never see the stapler or switched signs because they won’t even step in the building. They don’t want to machine of government to function. They wouldn’t be bothered by others trying to do make the functioning harder. They won’t even notice.

What you want to do is hold them to existing standards and procedures. Don’t comply just because they tell you to do it.

“What rule says I need to reply to a non-government employee? Which policy states that pronouns are banned from profiles? Which law states that our agency can no longer send public announcements?”

Certainly, but we’re seeing how effective that is with the courts being captured.

You’ll ask your questions in email and then security will show up at your desk saying you’ve been asked to leave the premises. They will use their access to the Treasury to stop paying you. You can try to sue to get your job back, and you might get it back, until a higher level applet judge or the Supreme Court itself overrules the decision and you’re out again.

Its shocking to see the rule of law break down in real time.

The alternative is “just following orders.” I recognize that not everyone has the financial safety to lose their job over civil disobedience, but the things that are currently happening are only possible because people allow it. The best way to resist fascism is to gum up the works; don’t take it from me, take it from the CIA.

I don’t think this applies the same here. That dock assumes the new regime still wants the services to function in the takeover. The current leadership doesn’t want it to function. They would be happy if you “gum up the works” because they don’t want the works to work anyway.

Fair point. But if my job is directed to make an unethical change, I’m sure as hell going to get it in writing first. If I get fired I’ll take them to court. Or maybe they’ll panic and rehire me like they’ve done with other agencies. People are starting to see the incompetence of this administration and I’ll be happy to provide another example.

Absolutely, continue to fight the good fight, but the rules are different for this battle and the path to winning is not nearly as clear.
