Indeed it is, they were banned from this instance for trolling and harassment, and were also permabanned from pawb.social for the same reason. They literally incited harassment towards me, made an alt and posted insanely disgusting content in a community with the purpose to defame me. Even sent me porn in my DMs, utterly disgusting piece of shit.
This is one of the people who needs to be banned everywhere (homeserver ban) sooner rather than later.
Yeap…
He has to be the most downvoted person on all of Lemmy.
You forgot the ye olde english guy
I don’t think I’ve run into him yet, do I wanna know, or is it something I should remain blissfully unaware of as long as possible?
I think they don’t post as much anymore but it was one person who kept posting while using the letter thorn (Þ, pronounced th as in the), people kept complaining that it made their posts less legible.
They ended up doubling down and incorporating other archaic letters, and over time they ended up writing all of their posts in very unreadable archaic writing.
Okay, But thats actually cool
No it was really annoying
Oh I saw that guy! Can confirm it was annoying, but I like having a few eccentric annoying people on here. They’re like mini celebrities.
People with gimmicks are tiring. Just go ask daddy for a hug and leave us out of it.
“You know what? I’m just gonna make it impossible to understand a thing I say. That’ll show you all!”
Not the point, but didn’t they use þ for the th in “three”? And then ð for that in “the”? That’s their usage in Icelandic and I don’t remember them using the letters differently. But my memory isn’t worth much.
The person in question was very thorough about reviving older spelling conventions. I asked him about it once and he gave me a reply written in what he considered right. It was a LOT. Still, I’m impressed with his commitment to the bit.
Do you mean “☆ Yσɠƚԋσʂ ☆”? If so, they are very much still active, posting what looks to me at first glance as disinformation. Doesn’t look to be getting many downvotes though I assume it’s because people just block instead.
Oh true. I am too lazy to edit my post tho
On the one hand, bringing back letters like thorn could help improve the readability of English by making it more clear what sound each character represents, especially for people learning English as a second language. We only dropped those letters because early movable type sets only included Latin letters, forcing printers to make do with sometimes unintuitive letter combos. But on the other hand, trying to force it by posting on Lemmy isn’t going to accomplish anything.
People can’t be bothered with to/too, there/their/they’re, or lose/loose. You want them to learn another letter?
That’s fucking hilarious I love him
He
Oh, fuck off. Best I can do is ‘they’, I’m not entertaining a troll who’s using trans people as the brunt of their joke because they wanna identify as a mythical creature so they can get pissy with people.

Hey man, I know that Dragonfucker is a troll, and I’m not defending their behavior or saying they aren’t doing this (not saying they are either) but we shouldn’t dismiss the idea of people identifying in unique ways like drag claims to. Xenogenders are valid and so are therians. I think that using they/them is the least we can do in this situation, and not deliberately use gendered pronouns to describe them. In dragonfucker’s case they want us to do more but they’re clearly not acting in good faith, if someone were, I would try and also encourage others to do so, but dragonfucker literally harassed me in DMs and publicly they have not shown any indication of good faith conduct. They just need to be banned like DroneRights and linkerbaan were.
While drag is 100% a troll, what evidence do you have that drag is lying about drag’s identity? Drag is not the first person I’ve met with a more complex identity, and I’ve even met one’s that are similarly upfront with their sexuality. Life, uh, finds a way, you know?
I think Mossy Feather’s comment upthread puts it best. If drag is a troll, then using correct pronouns and respecting drag’s identity is likely the best way to fuck with drag.
If drag is a troll, then using correct pronouns and respecting drag’s identity is likely the best way to fuck with drag.
I think it’s kind of hard, I would agree with that to an extent but I also know of cases where the troll wanted that and their goal was to make asses out of the people who did that. I once ran across a person who claimed to use Me/My pronouns and would flip out at people if they didn’t use those pronouns. Their goal was to make anyone who tried to affirm them sound stupid so they could mock them. Indeed I saw them talking shit about how “liberals will bend over backwards to respect pronouns” or “look at these dumb libt*rds trying to please t-slurs” in that case I wasted no time calling them out and not playing any games with them.
It hasn’t been so clear cut with dragonfucker, though they did (almost 100% sure it was them) harass me very aggressively seemingly trying to get me banned on pawb.social, lemmy.blahaj.zone, possibly other instances, and just try to foster ill will against me. I’m not saying this is the same case as that or that I won’t try my best to respect dragonfucker. I do know though that it’s not as clear cut as doing what they want or the opposite.
I hope no one gets the wrong idea or thinks I’m saying we shouldn’t respect dragonfucker’s pronouns. I’m just saying there’s a point where you need to recognize that following along can lead you into a trap if you do it blindly.
himself
Really dude?
Really what?
Dragself
What? What is going on?
there’s a load of accounts from either the same user (probably) or the same few users (possibly) including but not limited to hardlightcereal, dronerights, exocrinous, grail, mindtraveller, dragonfucker whose purpose is to make up mad gimmicks and claim anyone who doesn’t humour them is bigoted against australian soulist otherkin narcissists. it’s very funny
The behavior between the accounts is practically identical. They have to either be the same person or part of a group intent on trolling. Probably some of the biggest losers too, there’s no clout in trolling on Lemmy, Reddit maybe but not Lemmy.
Also add honourarydragon to that list, they claim to be dragonfucker’s SO but their accounts were created the same day and they only show up to defend dragonfucker when they’re getting heat.
Lol how did you piece all that together? Because that’s exactly what’s going on imo.
i don’t normally pay close attention to usernames but bizarre shit stands out and you can see each account using similar talking points until they get banned or bored and a new one takes over eventually posting the same stuff
I had to google what some of those words mean. Are you telling me that this person means the “dragonfucker” literally? That they identify as a dragon?
it would be a drag to presume to speak for drag but drag will probably drag drag’s self along to explain drag’s drag act in drag’s own time

I think Dragon Rider is the drag person. Dragonfucker is someone else.
Nope. Dragon Rider is Dragonfucker’s display name. Just like how my displayname is “Norah - She/They” but my username is “princessnorah”
Oh! Thank you, I didn’t know that was a thing. I have no idea how things work here.
dragonfucker
anddragon "rider"
are the same person. Dragonfucker is the username, which can’t be changed. Dragon “rider” is their display name.
CLM, this mod probably had no idea that this was their username. Likely why they immediately reversed their action and restored the comment after realizing their mistake.
They restored it after people called them out when those people saw this post
Comm validation!
clearly CLM
There is nothing wrong with being a dragonfucker. Anyone who perceives that as an insult and not a badge of honor needs help. u.u
That’s not even power tripping, that’s pure stupidity
Not sure what to judge this one to be honest, but seems weird to remove a comment because someone uses another person’s username
Is the mod is saying the offending user changed the comment to reflect the target’s username or that the target changed their username to justify the offenders comment? If it’s the former, there might be something we’re not seeing.
My understanding was that:
The comment called “dragonrider” “dragonfucker” as an insult.
I tried to politely ask the OP to remove that one word from an otherwise good comment while taking no mod actions.
After a day of no response (and other activity from OP), drag changed their name to reflect the insult and poke at me for not taking real action against the personal attack.
I then removed the comment. Trying to ignore drag poking and treat them fairly where it was warranted. My understanding was wrong. (According to users who I’m inclined to believe.)
Eh, for what it’s worth, those actions make sense to me and seem like going the extra mile to ensure the space ain’t toxic to nobody (or dragon).
Impossible to say. I have no idea who changed what to match what. Here’s the context, you can see it doesn’t help: https://lemm.ee/comment/16738479
folks should leave lemmy.world
They trippin harder and harder each day
You just have remember, most of these guys created subs so they could be mods, not because they wanted a place where a community could coalesce and discuss ideas.
I’m on the Community Team for LW. A large part of my effort (in particular) has been to actively recruit mods who haven’t asked for the position.
One reason is exactly what you just said. Those most inclined to rule are generally least suited. (Thanks, Douglas Adams.)
Another is that I’ve actively tried to avoid the Reddit supermod situation, where ten people share moderation of every important Reddit sub. You’ll notice that we generally have a different set of moderators for each of our largest subs. (Admins don’t count because they don’t/can’t really mod. Admins see reports for the whole instance.)
That, of course, has caused other issues. One is that our communities tend to be less consistent than subreddits. You can view this as a good or bad thing, but we’re generally judged as an instance by the most egregious actions of the most egregious community. And we’re all new to this and learning.
Admins/Community Team also are walking a fine line. It’s natural when you’re drafted/appointed as a mod to want to do your job. I’ve been regularly advising mods to take a lighter hand in moderation, but we’re also trying to avoid watching over every decision they make. They have some leeway in what they do.
This isn’t even that kind of community, it’s the announcements community for the whole instance.
