For example, for me, I would *love* a new Populous game based from what was done in Populous 3. That, and a new SimCity based on SimCity 4!
Titanfall. Proper Titanfall.
This. Titanfall 2 has ruined my taste in FPS forever. Nothing ever comes close for me
And there were some really great levels in the campaign, that was a fun game
Yes please. I personally preferred the slower PvP of the first game, but the campaign we got in Titanfall 2 was incredible. Really with they would revisit that franchise.
Just give me a new Deus Ex game please.
Glad I wasn’t the first one to suggest it. It’d be so much better if they finish it off and provide the missing gap to the original game.
Cyberpunk scratched that itch for me to a surprising degree. It’s not a perfect match, but it felt closer to the original than the sequels did somehow.
Given how well that game sold, it’s even more baffling that we don’t seem to be getting another Deus Ex. Don’t they like money or something?
They do like money. That’s why they made two shitty prequels.
Yes please, one close to the original <3
KOTOR
Nice choice! Would you like them to start afresh or would you like them to continue on from a specific game?
I think the Revan storyline is about tapped out, so starting a fresh story is probably the way to go. but I’m open to anything.
Have you ever played swtor? It’s a lot like kotor 3 in many respects.
But online and grindy
You can hide chat and you’ll barely even notice it’s online. And I don’t see how it’s grindy - in fact they made the base game so easy your companion can kill everyone for you.
If you just play the base game content from 2011, it’s 8 completely voice acted stories that are interconnected into one big story. And it’s free.
I recently started my 1st replay since I was a kid. Loving it on the steam deck, battery lasts forever with the old gem!
This is my number one pick as well. Just keep it the fuck away from Disney.
I can’t believe no one has said the most obvious:
Legacy of Kain
The indie scene has focused on a lot of SNES/NES-style retro franchises, but I’d definitely like to see a return to PS2 aesthetic, especially now that we can render those scenes at 60fps.
I recently played Psuedoregalia, and it was a lot of fun.
I really like the boomer shooter and PS1 style graphics comeback, but I also agree with you.
Also, Legacy of Kain Defiance holds up pretty decently
Dude this is the correct answer. A new soul reaver game would be dope.
No One Lives Forever! Please and thank you.
They’re both fantastic games, but the original (in which you go to Hamburg and a space station) felt more adventurous rather than the more grounded sequel (in which you go to the arctics and even more exotic locale: my hometown of Calcutta). Set it in the fictionalized disco-themed cold-war with the lead jet-setting around the world, and we’re golden!
Also, only a single game, but: Arcanum. (At least this one’s possible to buy on Gog and Steam…)
Arcanum supposedly had a sequel in the works at some point: Journey to the Center of Arcanum, and frankly, while I’d prefer to see other continents on that world explored a là Around the World in 80 Days, I’d still be sold on a hollow-earth adventure any day!
[Finished with the edits now!]
Such a shame NOLF is so deeply mired in rights disputes that we’ll probably never even get a digital rerelease, let alone a sequel.
I keep hearing that, but it seems like if there was a market for a 60s-themed spy game, someone would make a game that’s totally starring Kat Bowman who is an agent for ACCORD.
Sadly it’s probably more that uh, there isn’t and now I’m going to go sad replay NOLF again.
A friendly reminder to everyone: there is a fan project, part 1 and 2 updated to run on modern systems. They have their own page, the full games can be downloaded from there, and they just work. Just Google the title and fan update.
Which is what the NOLF link in my post points to.
Edit: no that’s just NOLF revival. I suppose I shouldn’t change it now, and thanks for posting ☺️
Nonono, that’s it!!! I totally missed the link :)
After fiddling with my original CDs back two years I gave up and installed these! Wide-screen, stable, high resolutions, perfect! I was so happy fans decided to get them running again!
Me too! My original discs for the sequel was unreadable even before I got to play it (it was a hand-me-down).
I also found this mod on itch as well, after your post. I think I had to edit the configs to get the resolution writing for Nolf2 even on the revival copy (and, save files from different resolutions don’t load!) If this patch can work around those issues that’d be great.
Time for another playthrough of the series, on the Steam Deck!
Half Life
Black and White. I miss good god games. Most these days seem like they are just casual, mobile style games.
Splinter Cell. Or a similar tactical stealth shooter. Except made by anyone other than Ubishit
Splinter Cell, specifically picking up where Chaos Theory left off. Use it to showcase Unreal Engine 5 lighting and make it a proper, spectacular stealth game again with Spies v. Mercs multiplayer.
Oh man, just made my own comment on black and white, and I assumed I was the only one. Black & White 2 is still the best God game out there for me and it was so much fun.
Burnout, but takedown style, NOT paradise/open world
It’s insane I can’t just have a game where I can do ridiculous crashes and uses cars as bullets.
Butnout: Paradise was the good shit
But they took out crash mode. Yeah, you could crash whenever in the open world, but I loved the puzzle game aspects of the old crash mode.
What kind of mode is that ?
'Cause there was a mode you were scored on the amount of mayhem you caused. They had pre-arranged intersections with set traffic patterns and multipliers and stuff scattered about, so it was a puzzle as well as a driving challenge.
oh that’s cool !
Crash mode was sort of like Angry Birds but with exploding cars and 10x the production value. You’d get score multipliers for causing the most damage possible.
NOT
paradise/open worldJeez, I am with you in this one, what is wrong selecting tracks and having less open world games in general?
This is my number one gaming wish. The old school burnout games were great! Couldn’t get into Paradise and all the driving around in between races.
A proper Thief sequel would be nice.
Came here for this!
Hell yeah! Wish I could play one and two for the first time again. The third was…fine but nowhere near as good.
Unreal Tournament
Splitgate really fumbled pivoting to a loadout based shooter instead of the arena style from the first game
Man, to think Fortnite, of all things, killed UT. Very sad
YEEESSSSS!!! Man I love this game!!
Okami! Please, more!
XCOM 2 came out in 2016. Let’s get another XCOM game. Maybe humanity pushing into space and creating a colony which then comes under alien attack. You have to defend the colony, cut off from earth, and take out the alien menace.
There was Chimera Squad …
I want to like Chimera Squad but every mission feels the same. I love the character based approach though. Also it was fun having aliens on the team for once.
Xcom 2 and Chimera Squad both had some annoying UI problems but luckily they were fixed (for the most part) by mods.
Syndicate (the recent indy homage alas broke the formula too much).
Mech Commander
do you mean Satellite Reign? is it “recent”?
Yes Satellite Reign, I guess its not very recent since it was nearly a decade ago!
Gauntlet, specifically in the vein of Legends/Dark Legacy. Arrowhead did a reboot-ish of the original style games 10 years ago, let em put some of that Helldivers 2 money into this.
That would be great. A new Gauntlet Legends game would be great.
Ridge Racer - Namco have really done it dirty and would love to see it revived. Take it back to basics as a pure arcade racer without the Burnout nonsense.
Timesplitters - Just pleeeeaaase.
Alundra - It was a JRPG on PSX and nothing ever came after the second game. It had loads of potential.
SSX - I still love the stupidity of those early games. Would love to see a fun another snowboarding game that doesn’t take it self seriously.
In regards to SSX, after the success of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remake, I am surprised that EA did not counter with a remake of SSX Tricky. I love how accessible the SSX controls are while still offering plenty of depth for people who want to optimize their runs. It is too bad that EA Sports seems to be focused on simulationist sports games (and live services).
I can across this a while back that might scratch some of the SSX itch for me - its an indy game that takes heavy inspiration from SSX. There’s a basic demo, it plays quite well on Steam Deck. Though I wasn’t a fan of the controls, so hoping the dev changes them or allows them to be changed.
