I’m an old ass, so be warned, this is gonna be some old ass recommendations on anime:

If you haven’t seen it already, Cowboy Bebop is a classic for a reason. It’s a 10/10 the whole way through. If you can, slip the movie(Knockin’ On Heavens Door in English) in somewhere in the last 5ish episodes. It’s really just an extended episode, and is meant to take place before the finale.

Wolfs Rain is a work of art and theming. Has a bit of love from the LGBTQ+ community for said theming, especially the “finding a place to belong in a world standing against us” angle the show heavily rides on.

Samurai Champloo is an absolute blast to go through. Hits some of the beats Bebop does, has the same mind behind it, but it’s still a solid story and a fun time.

If you enjoy cowboy bebop and samurai champloo. Check out space dandy. It’s a trashy fun similar show.

There are already so many anime communities in the fediverse, so I’ll mention some Jdrama that I really like:

Long Vacation - Old, tropy story of a guy in a rut that has his life turned upside down by a free-spirited girl. Great music.

Legal High - Basically live action Phoenix Wright. I love everything Masato Sakai is in. He is uncontainable.

We Married as a Job (Nigeru we haji daga, yaku ni tatsu) - Originally a manga, instead of an Anime it got a live action adaptation. Two people who aren’t even looking for a relationship get married for the social convenience of it all… and fall in love.

(The two stars got married in real life as a result of filming this series.)

Love love love FLCL - great music imho, all seasons. I’ve re-watched the first season a dozen times or so, and didn’t actually know there were more seasons until much more recently.

    I’m also currently re-watching Jojo. Again ❤️

My kids recommended Dororo, Dorohedoro, Made In Abyss, Bocchi the Rock!, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, One-Punch Man, Chainsaw Man… I have enjoyed them all. I know some of those are “new hotness” and really popular, but I’ve really enjoyed the stories, music and art in all of them.

I will be watching this thread for more recommendations! Thanks, OP!

I haven’t watched K-Drama for a hot minute, but here are the best K-Dramas—with absolutely no bias, scouts honor. They also don’t show my age at all 😉

City Hunter is goated. My son is not into K-Drama, but he’s watched this show multiple times.

Signal is my go-to if I want to bawl my eyes out.

Dr. Romantic is a good medical drama.

What’s Wrong With Secreatary Kim?, talk about burying the lead amirite? If you watch no other K-Drama, watch this. It’s wonderful.

Anime yeah. Nothing super obscure. Right now I’m watching JJK, Frieren, and FMAB. Excited for demon slayer and MHA to start back up too.

Right now Im watching a couple new shows, Bucchigiri?! and Bravern, both are great.

I have also started reading Manhwa recently which can have a kdrama feel.
