May as well of said I won the lottery lmao.
From our collective girlfriend Nicole, it has to be true.
“The workday will be approximately 60 minutes a day”?
Nice…
The fact that they can only be contacted via text or WhatsApp really fills me with confidence lol
So much confidence. That it came from the email at the top also fills me with joy. /s
I got a weird one the other day as well. To me, the oddest part was it gave me zero information about anything except their name and department they worked in lol.
Different tactic, just as easily will get you in a mess. I find that one to be a bit more of a threat than mine.
If you want to fill them with an equal measure of joy, DM them back a pic of the last gigantic dump that you took.
No preamble, no context of any kind. They know why it’s happening - big smelly log of shit fed down the drain, but long enough to plap on the porcelain near the seat. Really blow their socks off, and maybe nauseate them too.
Wait, isn’t Nicole the Fediverse-Chick?
dissapointed to know she works in HR 🤢
I wonder how various admins finally put a stop to that. Haven’t got a message from her in a while now that I think of it.
Haven’t heard from her in a while, either. Hope she’s doing okay
Someone finally responded to her. She found true love and is living a life of contentment on a tropical island.
Yeah, lets go with this version instead of that other, much darker one…
i remember reading about efforts to block images being sent via DMs, as i imagine they were always sent in image format to avoid text filters.
not sure if those were instance specific or global changes.
Could have just naturally fizzled, if they werent getting returns (victims), and the accounts were getting banned quickly, it might have just become not worth it?
I was under the impression that it was semi-automated, with humans only coming into the picture once someone was snared by the lure.
Could be? Dunno. Creating accounts might require a human?
That’s how you know its authenticity.
(Hiring Requirements: 22+)
if you ever see “22+” or similar (sometimes 25+), whether it’s business or romantic in nature, it’s almost certainly a scam. you see this a lot with bots posting personals on reddit, they want to capture more lucrative demographics.
Is this the scam where you get duped into hosting dozens of laptops in your home so North Korean operatives can look like they are working from a US location? Yeah, that didn’t work out so well for that one lady after she was caught doing this by the FBI and thrown in prison for a couple of decades for aiding a foreign enemy in espionage and money trafficking (or something like that).
That’s interesting. I wouldn’t had thought it’d go that far, but I guess it’s always a rabbit hole with scams.
It’s a pretty wild story. More info can be found here.
How much were they paying tho? I can easily see someone doing this for 2 laptops.
Okay but if NK paid up it’s not a scam it’s just crime
They were scamming companies by making them believe they were hiring American-based workers.
