My friend would shake my entire car when doing this, shit was hilarious

This also brought back highschool memories of separating our desks so them shaking their leg wouldn’t shake my desk

Me: Causally sitting, leg bouncing is almost a blur My Mother: stop shaking your leg My GF: stop shaking your leg My Teachers(all of them): Stop shaking your leg Me: starts tapping pens and pencils or drumming fingers on any and all surfaces | Repeat above constant nagging ad nauseam

When I did stop, it adversely affected my mood and mental stability. Do you know how hard it is to stop doing that, it literally (not figuratively) took ALL my concentration to stop and the second I let my mind wander to something pleasant or interesting the leg starts up again

When you find something that had a nice texture and run fingernails or a pen back and forth on it for 20 minutes straight 👌

Haha I’m a prolific body drummer too. I also do the leg shaking thing. Sometimes I’ll incorporate the two and the leg shaking becomes my bass drum.

I have a core memory of one of the high school cool kids turning around in his desk and yelling at me to stop vibrating. Only had to wait 25 years after that to get diagnosed with ADHD :)

Also turns out bouncing your leg and similar activities are surprisingly good at burning calories.

      Uh

This thread is just blowing my fucking mind. My ex trained me away from bouncing my legs, and I went from really thin to really fat in 5 years.

I also didn’t know it was stimming

So yeah here I am learning new shit

My wife (of nearly 10 years) has finally accepted the leg bouncing. There’s also slapping my thighs with both hands, which sets off the dog. There’s also touching my fingertips in sequence with my thumbs.

I have a few more that I do when I’m super over-stimulated and am able to escape into a bathroom or closet.
