    Why the fuck is the state just allowed access to full medical records in the first place?

      They have the ability to get some without a warrant but more would likely require a warrant. Although this is not the kind of thing they need to be investigating, they are just living out their transphobic fascist dreams.

      The next time I encounter a misinformed trans phobic statement in person, it will take all of my will power not to unload my pent up frustration while I attempt to calmly unravel their brain rot.

    This is absolutely horrifying. Can anyone explain how this isn’t a massive HIPAA violation? Or is it, but there’s just nothing to be done because it’s the AG requesting records?

      As my spouse often remarks, “The ‘P’ in HIPAA stands for ‘portability’, not ‘privacy’.” 😩

        Damn. I clearly need to read up more on HIPAA. I haven’t dug too much into this, but it looks like at least one person has challenged this as a HIPAA violation (source). I wish I had more confidence that anything would come of that.
