Aren’t these things like $80k? Let this be a warning to anyone still thinking “I’d be okay paying $x to not see ads”. The ads will find their way in regardless of how much you pay because it’s always an option for companies looking to squeeze out more money.
I’d be okay with paying money for not seeing ads, in fact I would love for all of my services to be paid for with money instead of my personal information.
I take great offense at companies taking my money and my information, a sentement I am sure anyone who rather pay money then see ads would agree on.EDIT: Okey, I’ve read the article now and they are trying to sell extented warrenty, showing a popup on the infotainment system. That is just not okey.
Who even leaves the lot with ads? If they didnt tell me when I bought it, im bringing that bitch back.

Ads in infotainment systems aren’t “infrastructure,” and enshittification of consumer electronics doesn’t really have much to do with car-centricity. It pains me to say it, since opposing advertising and proprietary software are also issues near and dear to my heart, but this thread is off topic. I’m going to exercise my
blatant hypocrisy“moderator discretion” and choose not to remove it, but please try to hew a little closer to the community’s stated purpose in the future.To reiterate: I very much do think this is an important issue to discuss. Another reason to hate new cars
I’ll keep my old clunkers running until I literally can’t. And that’s a hella high bar.
I’d be more fed up with having a Jeep. It’s almost like the car equivalent to having glasses without a prescription.
