So the people who screamed about the scary, scary BLM protesters rioting due to what they (rightly) viewed as a miscarriage of justice now think rioting should happen because of what they (wrongly) view as a miscarriage of justice.

As usual, it’s okay with they do it.

Literally everything. They’re afriad of Land Back because they fear the Native peoples will take the land the same way the founders of America took it. They’re afraid of equality because they think when Black people do better it must mean they themselves will be worse off because they cant imagine wealth without exploitation, the way they used to make wealth for themselves.

They took their first (arguably second after Charlottesville or the Bible photo op BS) shot on Jan 6. Don’t think there won’t be a second attempt. They view this guy as a messiah and they view themselves as religious. Him not getting what they want is a dangerous combination. He’s already shown the “greater good” has no place in his world.

It’s kind of wild actually. When Trump talks about this case being “fixed,” and the judge as being “corrupt,” he’s telling us exactly what’s going on in his other trial with Trump appointee and person with no prior trial experience (if I recall correctly) before being appointed to her seat on (looks at notes) huh, the “United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.”

        Wait a second…

    • The thing I think is the most irreconcilable, incompromisable, consistently demonstrated behavior of The Right in America is the blatant hypocrisy about nearly all of their planks. It’s the thing that, when the next civil war comes, will allow me to pull the trigger on anyone wearing a red baseball cap with little remorse.

      • Everyone needs guns to defend themselves from The State, because 2A! (Except for black people defending themselves from no-knock entry cops who got the address wrong)
      • The government shouldn’t be allowed to tell us how to live! (Except for LGBTQ* people, women’s choices about their own bodies, or homeless people)
      • The Constitution is sacrosanct! (Except for the part about separation of church and state, we just ignore that part)

It’s the same for their every. Single. Position. It makes me weary, and furious, depressed and pessimistic.

Don’t forget Philando Castile, a legal gun owner who did exactly what the NRA said you should do when pulled over with a gun in the car and got shot. The NRA made barely a peep about it. Can’t imagine white.

I wish I could after on the guns things but I should not own a gun! I have a history of depression and I super don’t want to have easy access.

That said, put a gun in my hands and I’ll do my part to end fascism. I’m even a fairly decent shot for having only fired a gun 3 different times. Just please take the thing away from me when I rotate out.

Better yet, get me an fpv headset.

When I joined the militia I had promised myself to kill one Fascist – after all, if each of us killed one they would soon be extinct… -George Orwell, Homage to Catalonia

        • I’m not advocating anyone buy a gun, mind you. My general opinion on guns is the same about cars: the only person I truly trust to operate one is me; the rest of all y’all are just generally unreliable.

That said: get a long gun. Any non-Bulpup rifle with a 20” or longer barrel - it’s really hard to commit suicide with a long rifle. You can find a way, sure, but there are far easier, more reliable ways to off yourself than trying to figure out how to pull a trigger you can’t reach when the bangy end is pointed at your head. And the knowledge that most people who try doing this end up still alive but permanently mangled and with reduced faculties may drive you to seek those alternative methods.

Another plus for a rifle is that it’s simply a better weapon for killing fascists. We have a lot of evidence that handguns are almost never used in armed conflicts. They’re far less powerful than rifles (in general), and their effective ranges are drastically shorter. Get a cheap optic, do some practice shooting, and you’ll be better armed and prepared than any open-carry idiot running around armed only with their trusty Colt M1911 with official Trump pistol grips.

I really wish that last part was a joke.

I don’t mean to come across as minimizing mental health issues. I also can’t prevent you from trying to off yourself. All that said, I hope you are able to get help, and get healthy.

Hey thanks, this is an idea that I hadn’t thought much about and I’ll have to consider it. I also need consider storage and how to get to a range without a car but those things are workable.

As for my mental health, I’m doing well and feel in a good place all around. I got married a year and a half ago and have a stable life. I’m doing good. This will have to be a process if I’m going to buy a rifle but your arguments have opened me to the idea.

            • Glad to hear you’re in a more stable place! I know it’s a constant struggle; rarely do people just “get better” and never gave issues again, but I’m glad that you’re on top of it.

Open carry is legal almost everywhere in the US. You could literally put a sling on it, strap it on your back, and ride your bike to the range. If you shoot a common caliber, you can buy ammo when you get there (assuming it’s a range in or near a store). You’d need to check your local laws about what you need to do to open carry a gun and ammunition; like, can you have it in a protective case?

Anyway, good luck with your journey.

        • Yeah, well, if they’re still wearing that shit during an active civil war - I mean, we’re taking about Phillies fans, so no great loss.

(Note: I lived on The Mainline for 20 years, so I think I’m allowed some ribbing. Phillies fans not only regularly trash Philadelphia in drunken riots after games, they also came to my new state and totally trashed Minneapolis while they were here. They are all members of the cult, just sadly the majority of them don’t realize they are. This is David Koresh on steroids! He has a platform previous cults did not, and has captured a political party to use for recruitment. It has become apparent that at some point the media and the country need to start treating his cult as such, and we need to figure out how to “rescue” millions of people that would do anything for their cult leader because they have broken all tethers to reality. Putting the cult leader in jail is not going to bring these people back, and is going to require mental health resources on a scale the US (and the world) has never had to deal with before. This is going to have repercussions for generations.

      ?

These are likely the same ones that pushed 1/6 and spent a lot of time telling people to do it.

The reason they’re still doing that, is they weren’t the ones to actually show up.

They’re not gonna stop doing it, because they didn’t get any consequences from last time.

All they gotta do is keep making these posts saying someone should do something. And chances are some idiots will do it.

Like, remember that main old guy from American History X?

He got naive kids to do the dirty work, so he was able to spend decades doing it without any consequences.

For real life example, just look at Alex Jones. How long it took for him to even go to court, and how he’s still not in jail or paying any judgements.

But he’s still running his mouth and telling others to do the work.

They don’t even realize that that’s not how appeals work. It’s not just “the appellate court says acquittal,” there needs to A) have been a failure in the legal process which B) would have been impactful on the jury’s verdict during the first trial for an appeal to be successful. Appellate courts only address the legal process. An appellate court would only get into addressing the facts of the case if there was an absolutely glaring smoking gun to point to some evidence or testimony having been false.

You know, like Allen Weisselberg does when he testifies.

Even if an appellate court was to side with Trump’s appeal, that just means it goes back to the lower court to be tried again, unless the DA goes “yeah, forget it.”

Our nation is sick, and the first bit of medicine we need is some semblance of justice for one of the most renown white collar criminals to ever hit the American spotlight:

Trump must be published for his crimes. If he is not, then America and the entire world is at risk of destabilizatiom.

If they had won the election in 2008 they would have found some way to destabilize Iraq again, not knowing ISIS was just around the corner.

They’ve also interrupted public life with threats of violence related to their religion and politics. They have been past the line for awhile and any vet who dealt with the reality of terror campaigns over seas can recognize this trajectory. If we don’t start enforcing this stuff soon we’re going to have our own version of Al Qaida policing our lives.

I tell people as often as I can, especially my trans and bipoc friends; now is the time. Get a couple guns (a long one and a short one) and learn how to use them. Learn some basic first aid, you really just need to know how to stabilize someone. Start networking with like-minded people in your communities.

The police will not protect you, they’ve proven they’ll happily club senior citizens to the ground and shoot any protesters in the face with rubber bullets while escorting a rightwing murderer to safety.

Iran was a secular, liberal monarchy until almost 1980 when they (mostly) elected an Islamist theocracy; it could happen here.

It’s hard for me to recommend that because what most people don’t know is the political violence in Iraq reached levels that would have been a civil war if not for the coalition’s presence. And having watched that level of violence once in my life I’m really hoping we can elect someone that puts the government to work stopping this violent far right theocracy movement. On the other hand I can’t in good faith deny anyone the basic tools I had to defend myself in that situation. I just know that every gun in the mix makes violence more likely and violence only begets more violence. If this kicks off we’ll need a real focus on deprogramming and welcoming people back into the normal population. The zero tolerance approach just doesn’t work, you can’t shoot an idea. Only defend yourself from the person who believes it.

Spoken like a person with absolutely no skin in the game. Talking it out is great but what happens when that doesn’t work? What happens when the next one successfully takes power and the congress and judiciary side with them?

I guarantee the crime rate of maga is greater than the undocumented immigrant population. We already know undocumented immigrants commit less crime than native-born Americans as a whole.

And the world was shocked because he is someone the law protects but does not bind.

Trump is currently being protected by Supreme Court justices who are literally deciding whether he’s bound by any law. You can bet that same conservative majority would make sure he’s protected by all of them.

…thus showing that the “Law and Order” party was never about law, they just want a particular kind of order- that is, a hierarchy wherein people below them on the status-ladder know not to try to hold them accountable to anything, including the law or even plain decency.

To them, the law is the cudgel to keep the poors and plebes in their place- low in the order- never to be applied to them.

No, they know that Trump supporters are the types of people to actually listen to and heed these calls.

This is stochastic terrorism straight up… Or is just flat out terrorism, they’re not really hiding it. This is the spokesperson of a “social media platform” (lol I know I know) saying this, not just some random casual Fox News watching R voter.

And he knows exactly who he’s talking to. It’s a clear attempt to mobilize.

Goddamn people must really be this stupid. I guess we just need to experience this pain first hand like Germany before we fully grasp what we are allowing to take hold of our government.

But even looking at them these days, it seems like 80-100 years is all it takes for everyone to start forgetting…

Edit: Came back after some thinking and realizing that the communications director for Truth Social probably literally is just some random Fox News watching R. Just not casual I guess.

Favourite part of the whole article:

A spokesperson for Truth Social said, “It’s hard to believe that Reuters, once a respected news service, has fallen so low as to publish such a manipulative, false, defamatory and transparently stupid article as this one purely out of political spite.”

“You never saw what you thought you saw. And even if you did, it was entirely justified and your interpretation was extreme.”

Umm, I hate this comment because it’s basically assuming there will be some kind of armed conflict between normal people. I don’t think it’s necessarily going to happen, and we shouldn’t stoke the flames for it. What’s better than saying inane comments like “get a gun” is to reduce voter apathy and hopelessness, educate people on their voting choices, and get them registered to vote.

Social media has a tendency to heighten emotions, and there are many, many state actors who abuse that fact. I squarely lay any blame for Rittenhouse, Charlottesville car ramming victim, and Jan 6th on social media spread disinformation and incitement. Don’t believe everything you read about “supporters of [insert ideological enemy]”.

That said, access to guns is a right for Americans and there’s nothing wrong with knowing self defense. But know that proper gun training and discipline is not scaling with gun ownership. So people are basically creating unsafe environments and situations for their families and others. Don’t do this, don’t be stupid. If you get a gun for any reason (sports or defense), learn safety!

Overall, it’s important to get more progressives in congress and other places of power and authority. Not advocate for armed conflict

And guess what? They all live in states with very lax gun laws where they can have ammo delivered to their front doors and enjoy range days training marksmanship without being ashamed.

Meanwhile in many liberal states you can’t buy anything but an overpriced shitty bolt action World War 1 wooden stock rifle, ammo is extremely expensive due to state taxes and your blue-haired neighbor shames you for driving 50+ miles to the nearest dogshit gun range with limited lanes, poorly trained racist baby-boomer RSOs, limited allotted time and exorbitant price gouging.

I own several guns. I used to have a concealed carry permit because I traveled alone for work with expensive items. I let it lapse after I changed jobs. After sandy hook, I considered getting rid of all of my firearms because American gun culture started to disgust me. I mainly shoot air guns for plinking now. Haven’t shot a firearm in years.

Now that maga has become such a presence, I’m considering getting a carry permit again. Gun culture still sucks. But, we can’t let the crazies be the only ones who are armed.
