one of the features of our federal government is that there is no limit on how long a senator (a member of the upper house of our congress) may continue speaking once they have the floor. this has led to a long tradition of exhaustive marathon speeches with the intention of delaying a vote or otherwise preventing further business in the chamber. the house of representatives (the lower house of our congress) does have time limits, as do many/most state-level legislatures, so this sort of thing is (mostly?) restricted to the senate.

if “bro respect yourself more than this” lands as an attack, and your go-to response is to signal how “hard” you are, you have deeper problems than being ignorant about trans care.
