The contention is that given the recent explosion of popularity of pickup trucks, the majority of truck owners do not use their vehicles for purposes beyond normal commuting and thus have no need for the excess danger, emissions, and annoyance of pickup trucks. So by chiming in with “I own a truck and actually do use it for truck things”, you contribute nothing to the discussion
