Preach
Found minimalism this year, it’s been a game changer for me. Have reduced my wardrobe by half, worked through all the misc pantry items I’ve been hoarding (or threw out shockingly expired canned goods…), have away stuff from my basement. Feels amazing, less clutter and more control.
So much stuff was “good to have” or “just in case” with a layer of dust on it. From a mental health perspective it’s been really nice to go through and keep up with.
Good for you.
I constantly have to guard my stuff against my gf who has minimalist tendencies. She doesn’t get that I like having stuff around that I pick up once every three years. It brings back memories for me. Also, who throws out books because they’ve read them? Heresy, I say!
Same with videogames and consoles, mangas, comics, magazines, movies…

Unfortunately, I don’t think Lemmy is large enough to support multiple minimalism communities which specialize in different areas.
But I agree with you: minimalism doesn’t have to be for cheap/frugal/ethics/etc. I (like you) also aim to have fewer high quality items, than a many disposable ones. And the mental bandwidth I gain from maintaining fewer things is very refreshing!
