Shouldn’t this be “Photos”? All I see are individual photos posted and no discussion or interaction. There isn’t even an about section in the sidebar. This really feels like a magazine that was created because someone thought that people would expect it to exist, then abandoned.

Sure, but at the moment, holding out for an ideal of what it should be would just mean less traffic. At the moment, it has traffic and users, and if someone starts a conversation (like you have) then people are more likely to engage.

If and when lemmy traffic gets high enough that the photos make genuine conversation impossible, then maybe it makes sense to cut down on photos posted to this group, but until then, all it would do is discourage participation

Personally I’d love to see some info in the sidebar like the kinds of stuff expected to be posted to the community, kinds of stuff not to post, etc.

This community (to me at least) seems like it’s pretty empty (it doesn’t pop up inmytop of last 6 hours often during the week) and I know personally at least that I haven’t shared more here because I’m not sure what kinds of things I could share here.

Like some of the photos I take I edit thoroughly using strange means (data bending) and some of the photos I take are strange due to the stuff I use to take the pictures. And of course some normal pics as well.

Or sometimes I kinda wanna talk about gear and what kinds of stuff we use.

Basically a little clarification in the about page or community info would be nice.

@Squidcopter ATM lots of Mastodon users post their photos under the tag “Photography” and it’s not going to change because of what we want on /kbin. Individual photo posting, at least on microblog, is here to stay. It may be interesting to devote the threads to discussion/interaction on photography, and “toots” to individual photos, though.
