Example: I tried to follow the support text on the right for this instance, that says “enter !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml in the search field of your instance”. Now when I enter this, I get everything, except a direct link towards the exact remote lemmy instance of this search entry, as can be seen from my screenshot.

Can this be changed, so when something follows the !.. syntax, it’ll directly show a result for the instance and sub ? Additionally it would be nice to just have the expression embedded in a one-click copy mode.

I’ve had this multiple times and haven’t been able to find a workaround. Hopefully it’s something resolved soon or someone can find a workaround for it, it really affects the use of federated instances

    1. After you run the search you can switch from “All” to “Communities” (in whatever language you’re using) in the top-left dropdown, which will make the search only show communities.
    2. If your instance does not know about the remote community the community will not show up until your instance has grabbed some basic information and posts from the remote instance. If the remote instance is slow this can take a long time, or may just not work (e.g if the instance is just down, even for just the moment at which you run the search). Refreshing the page sometimes helps.

I’m not sure what exactly you’re asking, but I’ll assume it’s not the standard “I can’t find this remote community” question, as your fourth search result is from the exact community you’re searching for… and has a direct clickable link to the community as federated to your instance (in green).

If you want a direct link as a search result to the community, search for it’s URL on its home instance, e.g. here https://lemmy.ml/c/lemmy_support

You can get this via the link under the community header on the left, where it says “Lemmy Support” and underneath has the hyperlink “!lemmy_support@lemmy.ml”. Click that link or copy its URL.
