I had to watch this video during my middle school sex ed classes. I have to say that I really like how consent is presented here, it’s a great video.

Pretty sad that this is even needed tbh but it’s all very well put.

I think a good indicator of how people really are with the idea of consent and boundaries (even if they charm their way with other social conventions) is to watch them with pets, especially cats.

Some people are very forceful with animals and disrespectful of boundaries with them. I think that cats especially are good at making it clear what they would like or not like you to do.

Maybe it’s an unfair criteria to judge people on but people forcing animals to do things or otherwise treating them like objects is a red flag to me.

I see your point. Cats in jumpers are adorable but I’ve never seen a cat that wants to wear a jumper. There’s a known link between criminal dangerousness and animal abuse so the science kinda backs you up

Yeah, also forcing it to sit or stay somewhere. And getting angry at retaliation and that sort of thing.

Obviously there’s exceptions like children or people who maybe just genuinely don’t know how to handle animals but I think a lot show their true colours when it comes to something that can’t really fight back or speak for itself like a pet.

yes, thank you for making sure I saw it!

It definitely gets the idea across. It’s disturbing to me that a video like this even needs to be made, it makes me want to study how things got to this point, why people view sex differently, etc.
