    seven of those years were governed by CDU+SPD the same Coalition (just not with Angela Merkel as chancellor) as it is now again…

      There are fairly big ideological differences between Merz and Merkel, especially when it comes to immigration. I don’t think there would be many Syrians in Germany today if Merz had been in power in 2015.
