Our hornbeam trees had a lot of offspring this season. I put some of them in pots and thought about maybe starting a bonsai. I don’t know if I actually have the patience to follow through with it but all of the research I’ve done so far has been super interesting!
I love bonsai! It’s gorgeous, quite hard to keep alive though. Have you ever had bonsai before?
No never! I tend to hobby hop though so I’m not sure if I’ll stick with the idea but who knows?
Haha I’m neurodiverse so I go through hyperfocus phases on things. So I deffo relate to hobby hopping!
I do often hop back after some time but I fear plants are less forgiving than craft supplies!
Yep, craft supplies don’t wither away…
I really helped a client this week, I spoke to her in a way she understood and helped her understand something.
I was doing a deep search for a file on my laptop, and I found a bunch of poetry I had forgotten about from a college class ten years ago. Damn, I wrote good stuff back then. Brain fog has really taken its toll.
I deployed 14 customized linux installs at work to replace Windows 10 installs before it goes end of life in October. I researched some rather poorly documented (from a user/admin perspective at least, I can’t speak on the source code) features to automate the install process so all I need to do is boot to the usb drive, enter the name of the computer, and set the password. This will save all of these systems from being sent to e-waste!
Yesterday I figured out getting remote desktop sharing to work via my management agent that doesn’t have a direct feature for that on Linux. I’m considering asking for the vendor to add the option as it can be done with the built in features (plus some free, open source software installed on each system), I just need to manually enter a few pieces of information instead of it automatically doing it like it can on Windows!
Wowza! Impressive!
I found some cables I was looking for so I could hook up a new docking station. I learned that there are two types of DisplayPort to HDMI adapters - active and passive - and I was lucky that I had all the parts I needed in my decades-old bin of cables!
My hoarding has been validated!!!
