A democracy officially becomes a dictatorship when the executive starts disobeying the legislative branch.

The US is on the knife’s edge, and starting to fall on the wrong side of history.

And the price of eggs still hasn’t come down…

It is not on the knife edge. It has already begun the swift descent to horrible shit. The question here is if the courts will claw back a small piece of decency. My bet is no, but my hope is yes.

Visited the gulf earlier this year, literally reeks of death- has never recovered from BP’s monumental ‘oopsie’ deepwater horizon in 2010. For this reason alone, I think the rebrand kinda fits.

I feel like people who are targeted by the ice gestapo and bystanders need to understand that this the kidnapping is likely a death sentence and respond accordingly.

If you’re about to be kidnapped and sent to your death, might as well attack your abductors.

      You’re gonna die either way.

You arrest the head of the DoJ. And any agents trying to protect him by the sheriff of whatever town they are in.

No need. Trump has immunity, but nobody else does. Lock them up in increasing numbers until they start obeying the law.

Haven’t you heard? Presidents are immune to the law. The Supreme Court said so. And since the DOJ is run by Trump sycophants any arrest order for someone in the administration will be ignored. Just like getting this guy from El Salvador will be.

The Supreme Court had a chance to rein in a possible second Trump term when they took the presidential immunity case and they fucked themselves for a couple dollars instead. Now we all reap the horrors they have sowed.

The way i’m reading this - Trump is unable to do so because the US is now weak and feeble.

Clinton, Obama, Biden, maintained our geopolitical strength and would have exercised it.

(this ignores the fact that none of the prior presidents were nazis)

Nope, that’s the nonsense argument the administration is trying to push in court right now, but they’re lying like usual. The US could get this man back from El Salvador with a phone call but they’re choosing not to do so, continuing a long tradition of giving nonwhite people crappier legal process and fewer substantive rights that goes back continuously through several presidents. It would be great if the US was weak and feeble and unable to do things like carry out the murder of our own citizens overseas via drone strike like we did in 2011 or provide an endless stream of weapons to Israel to support the genocide they’ve been carrying out since 2023, but unfortunately America still has one of the most lethal fighting forces in the world.

They were Nazis too, or at least Nazi adjacent. They were just smart and competent and playing the long game which would have landed us here in 20-50 years without any domestic resistance.

I’d say that 20-50 years is generous. Maybe if they’d won every election, but that’s now how US politics goes. When one side stages a coup, and history shows they’re going to win an election again within the next cycle or two, not throwing the leaders of the coup in Gitmo by January 21, 2021, at the latest, sure seems like enabling fascism.

I don’t understand this at all. This has been days and days and days. Why isn’t there a plane in E.S. with people banging on the prison door to get this guy?

Because he is dead. They put him in gen pop 3 weeks ago.

The courts already knew about him and had previously refused to deport him because he was a target for gang violence.

Yeah, we all know he’s dead, but where’s the push to go there and make them acknowledge it? Half of Congress is ok just pretending that he’s ok and waiting for… for what?
