According to Reuters, Trump is preparing to remove legal status for 240000 Ukrainian immigrants, following which they will likely be deported back to a war zone.

The US continues her slide into global irrelevance, abandoning respect for democracy, the rule of law, and human rights.

It is the duty of the countries that continue to respect democracy and human rights, including Canada, to prevent these people from being forced back into a war torn country.

Edit Still getting the hang of this, created this post without the link to Reuters. Apologies, link added.

That’s the problem. The people who put him back into power are still in his cult, so they have no shame. His voters will lose their jobs, homes, families, and they’d still clap at every lie coming out of his mouth.

We shouldn’t be experiencing second-person shame. They should be human enough to recognize that what he’s doing is shameful, and react.

I think people are really naive about the kinds of stories and evidence Trump voters are seeing post election.

Trump voters consume media that makes him look good, that’s why they voted for him. It is impossible to make Trump look good without enormous efforts toward deception. Therefore Trump voters consume media that successfully lies to them, and in major ways.

Before the election, that media convinced those people that he isn’t an obviously amoral con man, and even more incredibly, that our country needed him to save us. That is a miracle of deception - a nat 20, a coup de grace. And what, we think that media just stops after the election? The disinformation never, ever stops. Real world consequences will reach some, but not nearly enough to counteract that.

I can understand that they have a confirmation bias if they only choose to consume right-wing media.

But surely, they are catching some news outside the country and hearing what Canadian and European news are saying?

It’s been non-stop, and nearly every world leader outside of Russia has been criticizing Trump and his dog, Musk, for the harm they are causing Americans and their allies. Even Fox news apparently is calling him out.

You really would have to make a special effort to avoid what the international community is saying. It would be hard to even misinterpret what’s being said on the world stage.

Real world consequences will reach some, but not nearly enough to counteract that.

Never say never. Depending on how steadfast the rest of the world is, I think most republican voters will feel the pain he’s brought upon them. They can only blame Biden, Obama, and Clinton for so long before they realize that Trump has had over 50 months of being president, and things have gotten worse for them, not better.
