It seems like Funko pops shouldn’t have stood a chance in a space so thoroughly saturated with collectible plastic characters from any franchise imaginable. And there was candy involved.

I haven’t seen it here in the comments, so I’ll be a total curmudgeon and say it: fuck Pez. I hope it dies out. Shitty tasting candy dispensed from a shitty dispenser. Even as a kid I was disappointed. Plus, it’s just more needless plastic garbage that ends up in landfills for almost no reason at all

What we need is a rerun of these guys. Had one. Somehow made the candy taste better. Probably because you’d lose them behind the couch before they reached your mouth.

I feel like there’s some article here I’m not seeing here.

Pez never went anywhere. The thing is though, I just looked at my pez the other week. The ones still on sale (as of a few months ago when I bought these) contain red dye #3.

    That shit’ll give ya cancer.

So those pez will just never be opened.

Wait what? Is this only an American thing or do they have that dye in EU too?

Pez are only like 20% character. FunkoPops can be more expressive because they don’t need to dispense candy.

FunkoPops have zero practicality outside of collecting dust on your shelf and are just modern day beanie babies. Pez at least provides nutrition and a way to store loose candy in your pocket for today’s person on the go.

Saw them at Christmas in Denmark. I haven’t seen them in almost 30 years, so I was tempted to buy them, but I still remember the candy being bad so I passed.

Did they ever improve the spring mechanism on the dispensers? The last time I got one was probably in the 90s, and those things were constantly jamming up. I’m surprised that they didn’t go out of business already, honestly.
