I have seen a lot of tesla vandalism online the last few days and I’m kind of on the fence about it.

I’ve seen several examples locally here in BC, Canada.

I think totally warranted at newly purchased teslas going forward. Also it serves as a deterrent for potential future buyers.

But vandalizing a car that is a few years old I think is lame. Those driversare already being punished enough by driving something around that’s worth less than scrap.

Older Teslas- no, Cybertrucks - absolutely yes.

Everyone who bought a Cybertruck knew exactly the kind of person they were buying from and made that concious choice

If you want to get punched in the face or face legal consequences, sure go ahead!

As far as morality is concerned, no it’s not moral to vandalise the private property of a person who bought it through his hard earned money because you don’t like some billionaire.

Personally, no. Most people probably brought their cars before Musk went totally nuts, or they simply didn’t know. Plus, not everyone can just get rid of their car because of the CEO of the company that made it.

But they why do we stop at vandalizing only the Cybertruck? There are several other vehicles that I would consider to be “douchebag vehicles”.

        • Cars that are modified to be as loud as possible. These cars can be going 20km/h and sound like the engine is in a race.
        • Lifted pickup trucks.
        • Pickup trucks that have only their bed used once.
        • Any vehicle blocking a bus stop, bike lane or bus lane.

There was not a second in history in which Musk wasn’t nuts.
      Remember those crap flamethrowers?
Didn’t even compress the fuel . They were shit. Can’t even deal with a nest of human-eating ants with that crap.

TBH, you’re only really hurting the owner, and you don’t know their situation necessarily unless you’re in close contact with them all the time.

    Plus Teslas have security cameras.

    It’s generally a bad idea.

That’s just writing in dirt. A prank as old as cars. Totally fine.

If you want to go further that’s up to you.

I agree with the first part of your statement but I don’t think damaging other people’s property is justified in this case…

I understand people wanting to do anything that can stop the attack on our government and rule of law, but not seeing how destroying cyber trucks is a tactical move.

I don’t think that there is a tactical thought to people wanting to vandalize Teslas. I think that there is a true sense of helplessness on not being able to do anything to stop these fuckers. So in in the place of something more substantial the anger and frustration is being taken out on something associated with musk

Is it right? Probably not. Is it understandable, yes

Only Cybertrucks. Someone who got a second-hand car four years ago didn’t buy-in to the current trend of fascism. But the cybertruck is new enough that if you bought it, you know what’s going on

Many of us drive a lot. Half-decent cars that don’t need regular repairs are going to run at least 30k, sometimes more. I really don’t understand the 70k trucks, but I may just not have the perspective. I don’t know what you consider too much money on a car, but I have two kids and need something safe for local travel and visiting family hundreds of miles away.

Edit: If there was better public transportation, I would take advantage of it. We were supposed to have high speed travel in Florida–the people voted for it. The Republicans stalled it because there wasn’t a funding portion to the law and refused to fund it.

if you like what it’s doing to the Tesla brand, then maybe it’s justified. you need to make that decision for yourself. I think public shame goes a long way to fixing social problems

Its already pre-vandalized from the factory with that awful design. No need to kick a car when its down.

But no, doing damage to other people’s property is not okay

My father was always going on about how stupid it is to buy a car designed by computer scientists and electrical engineers. He himself is an electrical engineer who has a PhD in computer science. He might have been on to something.

Don’t worry, since they’re dangerous and no one’s buying, Musk is forcing the government to buy them now.

No, much like staging a coup of the U.S. government and threatening the sovereignty of free nations, it’s unethical, and the punishment should be proportional to the punishment for those offenses, according to severity.
