Well it’s a private page in no way affiliated with any government entity.

      I don’t know what’s your point there

My city sent me a letter telling me to visit that website before making an appointment with town hall. That’s a strange way to be unaffiliated with any government entity.

Well it’s still a Website run by a private corporation as you can easily see in the Impressum. Maybe your town isn’t run very professionally. Most towns have their own explanation site, and don’t rely on a 3rd Party Website where they have 0 influence over the content.

The one run by the German Ministry for Building and Renting is this one. And it has a calculator too. I don’t get why they would link to the one you mentioned

Maybe it’s not run efficiently, but that’s not something I really have control over. The fact is, a government entity is compelling me to use a website which requires cookies before I can access a social service in the eu. I could probably go to the office without doing that, but the letter states it’s required, so they’ll get a lot of data from people assuming their government isn’t lying to them.

            That’s fucked up.

I went to the library, so I’m not worried about myself, though it’s good to have another option. I just wonder how many of the people in my city are going to look for other options, vs how many will just agree to share cookies. If a quarter of people here do the latter, that’s tens of thousands of people.
