I came to comments to find out what “gills” kicking in meant. 😂

(Now Kerry Ann’s comment makes sense but the original still doesn’t.)

The pills kicking in is a universal post-industrial human experience.

Regarding HRT though, does anyone actually “feel” the hormone changes? I know they affect you physically, but is there a noticeable neurological effect like caffeine or something?

The only thing I really noticed in my brain is being more sleepy all the time. For me, heightened emotions already happened before HRT, after coming out of repression. Maybe the hormones have amplified it even more, but if so it’s not dramatic enough to be easy to tell. If nothing else, though, experiencing the physical changes has had a marked positive effect on my mood through euphoria, relief from dysphoria, etc. Can’t say for sure if some of that might be from the hormones alone. It can be difficult to separate the confounding variables.

I’m unfortunately yet not on HRT, but I think it may make some neurological effect, since it’s putting hormones on the body that it isn’t used to have, at the very least.

I can confirm it does. It is a lot rarer now for me to experience anger and it is a lot easier for me to cry. I also had a change in taste as well. I used to hate blueberries, grapes, and asparagus but now I love them. I’ve also found that my tolerance and cravings for spicy food has increased as well. Those changes all occured within my first few months of taking HRT.

(PS, I hope you are able to get HRT soon)
