Reminds me of how a lot of Americans googled “did Biden drop out?” on election day

Warns us, but does fuck all about it like it’s some new thing that hasn’t been going on for decades at this point. Real easy to say this shit as you’re heading out, and he knows damn well Trump isn’t going to do shit or allow anything to be done either.

Jon Stewart’s private podcast had some great points yesterday. They were musing that the trump and Maga way of doing things have been going on forever, except it’s now just blatant and brazen and out in the open exposed for all to see.

Previously it would be lobbying and strings being pulled behind the scenes by oligarchs. Now Musk is dancing on the stage and buying votes. But the end result is exactly the same.

Previously it would be pretending to care about protecting democracy in the world and through “hawkish foreign policy” and negotiations and treaties put US military assets on foreign soil. But now Trump just straight up tweets “Greenland we want your minerals”. But the end result is exactly the same.

The only difference now is the lack of subtlety.

I’m not doing the argument justice… the podcast episode is well worth the watch and very interesting. https://youtu.be/X_42VZ-Bdpc

Yeah, as if Biden didn’t enforce an oligarchy. I believe Trump is way worse, but Biden also had rich friends who enjoyed his policies to gain more power.

In America, it’s a descriptor that is applied to other countries … but not their own.

Didn’t the president just use that descriptor to refer to America? It’s all over american political discourse, too. What you are on about.

That’s General Eisenhower warning of industrial-military complex having too much power,Level of irony.
