    Rough year. No wonder everyone sounds like the COVID-19 lockdown.

      99° F (37° C) in Chicago last summer was a catastrophe. And there was even air conditioning which took the edge off after trudging through sidewalks that had begun to stick to my shoes. I cannot even imagine a 1930s 109° F (43° C).
