Halifax police say the death of a 19-year-old woman found dead last month inside a large oven at a Walmart in the city’s west end is not suspicious and there is no evidence of foul play.
Halifax Regional Police offered a short update in a news release on the case Monday, but did not say how Kaur died, only that the death was not suspicious.
Walmart said last week the bakery oven was being removed from the store. Removing the oven had always been part of a standard remodel program being implemented across the country, the company said.
Yeah, teenagers just up and die and end up in ovens all the time, nothing weird about that at all /s
Maybe there’s details that aren’t being shared, and I suppose you can’t really rule out an industrial accident, but HMMMMM
How to add absolutely nothing but conjecture to a conversation 101.
The police have cried wolf, or failed to, far too many times.
While I appreciate the sentiment, I am sorry to say “Fuck the police 101” is down the hall.
It’s not controversial to say that police departments lie constantly, especially about minorities. I’m no anarkiddie, I just recognize this pattern.
When did I say it was controversial? When did I say I didn’t agree?
If they’re not releasing details then you’ve got to add something
It is better to wait for information than it is to make shit up yourself and call it productive.
Sure, I guess I’m just deeply suspicious when a young minority dies while working at a Walmart and police rule out foul play without further comment
At this point I haven’t even heard a cause of death. There’s nothing to go on except for conjecture
Also I didn’t make anything up. I stated my suspicions and allowed that it could be even be accidental.
But you have to admit it’s weird to discover someone in an oven. Even if it’s not foul play I want assurances that there’s an investigation being made to determine how this happened and prevent it from happening in the future
Would you be as suspicious if it was a white teenager? Or is this just a virtue signal?
Cause of death seems pretty apparent coupled with the lack of evidence demonstrating foul play. Plenty to go on that leads to more reasonable conclusions outside of foul play.
You stated no suspicions. You pointed to the fact that all the details aren’t released, which is absolutely normal during investigations, and did your best Fox News impression of “just asking questions”.
“We acknowledge the public’s interest in this case and that there are questions that may never have answers,” said Cromwell. “Please be mindful of the damage public speculation can cause. This woman’s loved ones are grieving.”
You betcha. Exploitation is equal opportunity.
Now who’s adding conjecture?
We’re obviously not going to agree on this
What made you feel the need to point out the victim being a minority, and telling the world how deeply suspicious you are because of that, in your original comment if ethnic background doesn’t matter to you?
“Opinion or judgment based on inconclusive or incomplete evidence; guesswork.”
Not me. Especially when the whole sentence remains in context.
Notice how I said the cause of death is apparent, and didn’t try to speculate on what it could be even though the most likely cause is asphyxiation from being stuck in an oven that has been turned on.
Facts are someone died in an oven, and there is no evidence of foul play. Your morbid need to know more than that while not being personally connected to the family is a sickness.
What exactly do you want me to agree with you on?
I’d like to be able to agree that nobody enjoys having their words twisted to suit others’ agendas. There seems to be plenty of that going around from both parties, and if you feel I’ve done that to you then I apologize.
Mostly I’m frustrated here because I’m advocating for the victim. I hope she gets justice and this doesn’t happen again - whatever it is that indeed happened. It’s equally tragic no matter who it was or where they were from, but 19 is just too young to no longer be here.
Perhaps I’m showing my biases here, but I don’t trust institutional monoliths like the police or Walmart. Once bitten, twice shy. The truth is we’ll never know what happened because none of us were there.
I’ve left this discussion with the feeling that you’re calling me racist and am out here trying to cause distress for the family. It’s just so far off that mark that it goes beyond the pale.
I hope your day gets better.
Uhhhh, you sure about that?
Well, I guess it it can be disproportionate at times
But if you’re a teenager with no money then the system doesn’t care as long as it can extract value from you
