Like literally anything else in the office, ask the question and respect people’s limits. It can add to a workplace culture but not enough to overcome making someone uncomfortable. My dog is hypoallergenic so it occasionally gets special visitation privileges.
Personally I don’t mind, but I find it problematic mostly because not everyone can be around dogs, be it because of allergies or past experiences.
