AFAB people not being hyper-feminine isn’t internalized misogyny.
It should be pretty obvious that not being the patriarchal standard of ‘feminine’ is going to get AFAB people the most shit from the patriarchy. If we wanted to ‘avoid misogyny’ we sure as shit wouldn’t be doing this.
An AFAB person dressing the way patriarchal men want them to in order to avoid social ostracization would be internalized misogyny, not the other way around.
I don’t know why idiots think that make-up and dresses are genetic. Bro, men used to make up, powdered wigs, and heels. And don’t get me started on togas and robes, that shit is just a dress. It’s not inherently feminine. We made that shit up.
I’m not ‘rejecting womanhood’ and I don’t have internalised misogyny just because I’m AFAB NB. This is literally just me being who I am inside. I won’t be gaslit into performing gender in a way I don’t want to.

Radical "Feminists" 🤝 Liberal "Feminists" Thinking that violating gender norms is misogyny
I just want to be me ffs haha
In what sense do liberal feminists think violating gender norms is misogyny? Not saying this to defend them, I just can’t think of any examples off the top of my head.
scaremongering about attacks on femininity by masc women, valorizing consumption of beauty products as feminist praxis, the entire “bimbo feminism” thing
People explaining how me deciding to ignore what other people think and feeling comfortable with myself for the first time in my life is somehow the result of social pressure.
Same men who cry about gender conformity and traditional roles will turn around and talk about who “looks good” on the football field. And then espouse how we need to turn back the clock with our media to when… Bugs Bunny wore a dress?
Alternatively, the other way around with terfs. I’m trans. No, I’m not sexist and patriarchal for being trans and doing typically feminine things. It’s really lose-lose to be transgender, you get hatred whatever you do.
mood
well, on the other hand, you can do whatever the hell you want because other peoples’ reactions won’t matter much if they’re gonna hate you anyway
Agreed wholeheartedly.
It’s actually wild because as I’ve started presenting more masculine and really embraced those parts of myself, my visceral disgust of femininity has all but disappeared. You could argue (and I indeed would) that my internalized misogyny has actually lessened by embracing a more masculine way of presenting myself.
Femininity is cool and good, it just isn’t for me, and that’s fine!
Yes! Thank you!
Bro, men used to make up
Still do in some circumstances; actors and politicians on stage and in film are almost always wearing a certain amount of makeup.
Reactionaries will always attempt to co-opt and pervert the language of the left because it is the language of liberation and its truth resonates with the masses of people. But the reactionaries’ mind does not understand its truth, just the power it has, so they will always work to unmake it.
