Even in the modern day the ocean seems to devour the hubris stricken.

    No wonder people worshipped it.

I read in an article he was on the yacht to celebrate being acquitted in a US fraud case. I bet he was innocent…

Well, he was a billionaire because he sold his successful business to Hewlett-Packard, who then wrecked it and strong-armed a case through the DoJ to claim he’d somehow misconstrued the value of his company, and then he spent 13 months in prison awaiting trial and was acquitted because the judge said HP just fucked it, so if we’re making up theories about who’s the villain in this story about an unexplained sinking… Maybe it’s more complex than a cursory reading of a single news article?

Sorry, I’ve been pre conditioned to assuming every billionaire is an asshole and broke multiple laws to hoard unreasonable amounts of wealth (this fucking yacht for example) while actively making or passively watching other people live in poverty.

Fuck him, his acquittal, his boat and every one of his billionaire friends.

Well his 18 years old daughter died onboard that day, much like the kid in the titanic submarine. Only her mother survived. Maybe she was a little rich brat, maybe she would have become a world savior, who knows.

I’m all for eating the rich, but not before they are at least 45 years old, 18 is just sad.

I think you’re still right though. regardless of the situation with HP, he still created a company that, when sold, made him a billionaire. I don’t think that is possible without also exploiting people.

I believe that if Jesus really exists he smiles every time a billionaire goes to hell

Storm-sunken. I’d love to know if there was a stupidity factor or if the Bayesian just got unlucky. To be fair, I’d expect a superyacht to be resilient to storms at sea and feature a savvy crew.

So are we taking bets about who is going to be next?
