Physical exercise. You’ll still be depressed, but at least you’ll be depressed and ripped.

Starving myself isn’t a coping mechanism; that’s a symptom of ADHD causing me to not remember that my body needs food to live.

I regularly checked 5 of those boxes for a few years. I just slowly cooled my roll and now I occasionally participate in a few of those things.

What makes maturation a terrible coping mechanism? It doesn’t hurt anyone including yourself.

While your prostate will thank you, it’s an ‘unearned’ dopamine rush that convinces you that you did something good for the day. It can psychologically reinforce negative behavior and have you get complicit with your surroundings and make positive change harder. But that’s true for all coping.

I feel like if that’s the case then evolution really fucked its job up (metaphorically)

If masturbation was a negative thing, we likely wouldn’t have been inclined to do it. As far as I know, that unearned dopamine rush thing being bad is a bit of a myth.

Wastes a lot of time if you do it a tone. And one can hurt themselves if they do it constantly (several hours a day?) and rub it raw.
