Or you go out with a friend to do something planned, and they suddenly have a couple extra stops to make or people to talk to etc that weren’t in your social energy budget so you’re left running an unplanned deficit

My wife does this kind of thing so much, “One More Thing.” No! I was told that we would do Thing A and Thing B, and then be on the way home by Time O’Clock!

I may just cancel or leave when that happens. Kinda funny since my friend brought this up today. Not quite the same but in the same ballpark. Not too long ago I was on the way to my friend’s house to go see a movie with them. They changed plans while I was on the way to them and wanted to meet at the theater instead. I just went home.

Sounds stupid when typed out but that was like the 4th or 5th time plans had changed that day and it was just too much for me. It’s very uncommon for that to happen to me.

  • I had gone into this Hawaiian BBQ place years ago and loved it. Went back to it recently and the menu was totally different, and the only thing truly Hawaiian BBQ was the spam musubi, which was also just super plain and basic. No sides with anything, there were no complete meals it was like a ala carte Chinese restaurant and the prices were through the roof.

I just put the menu down and left.

I went to a new restaurant last week and did the same thing. $15 minimum menu price. Now, depending on the place that’s not outrageous, but this was a Vietnamese place that had things like pho. Nothing fancy. I just got up and left.

Normal pho price where I live is about $15-18. Banh mi is only like $7-9, at least.

I’ll just say it’s the most expensive place I’ve been to in literally the same area. There are tons of other Viet places around there with cheaper prices. It’s not like it was WAY out there, but why would I pay 20-25% more when I can go one street over for the same food?

I obviously can’t compare taste since I didn’t get anything but they weren’t exactly screaming fancy either. About the same as every other place in the area. They are just newer.

I hate it when this happens. Happened to a nice pizza place down home once, everything was different, the interior, the staff, the menu. Was basically a whole new place. Haven’t been back.

Me sometimes when I check the restaurant’s menu on google maps only to realize later the photo of the menu was from 4 years ago.

it’s fucking baffling how terrible many places are about providing basic information online, half the restaurants either simply have no website or they refer you to a page on facebook that has jackshit information…

holy shit just put a text document onto github and buy a cheapo domain, PLEASE

Something that drives me batty is when a restaurant has an Instagram account that’s recommended to me but has no address in the profile. Nope, even if you’re around the corner I’ll never go near you.

I only ever google a menu if I need info to chose a restaurant (do they have vegetarian options, do they have something other than sea food?, etc) to make sure whomever party I’m inviting will be comfortable

I never read the menu in advance for me, that’s like reading the plot summary of the movie before going to see it

I almost always check for the customer menu pictures on Yelp. It’s kind of interesting seeing how the menu visually changes over time…and the prices slowly increase.

      Laziness and entitlement.

As a lifelong food service worker customers do not give a single fuck about how what they do impacts the store at all.

And even if it’s an upper management issue the employees in the store have to suffer for it.
