Please be better than this. It’s the mirrored version of ‘owning the libs’, and it hurts us all in the end.

That said, I am very pleased that justice has been served. We need to hold more politicians accountable, both at the polls and in the courts.

      It’s funny.

The left is expected to shut up and take blow after blow from conservatives.

But the moment I use a satisfied seal meme, not even any of the myriad of more offensive ways I could have made this meme, people jump at the defense of conservatives saying we need to be “better”.

Blowing off steam is allowed and I’ll keep doing it, thank you very much.

Yeah, it’s incredible how the ‘seethe and cope’ crew never get called out on being shit-stirrers and directly attacking liberals, but the minute you make a joke about convicted felon Donald Trump, all of a sudden cries for ‘unity’ and ‘civility’ come out of the woodwork.

Almost like they’re massive hypocrites who never gave a flying fuck about unity and use crocodile tears and both sides-ism to avoid accountability for the things they say and do.

No. Shame is powerful and under utilized by the left because we are afraid of hurting people. The right is dropping bombs on children and threatening fascism. The difference in restraint is huge and it is hurting the left more.

The right whines when it doesn’t get it way and throws legal tantrums when they have to play by the same rules as everyone else. This is just the start of the schadenfreude. The right can fucking die of collective anger for all I care.

I thought about what you said, but I came to the only logical conclusion.

Fuck Trump and the horse he rode in on.

Oh I agree about that part. I even agree in the schadenfreude about his (direct) suffering, and he absolutely deserves it (and more).

Nah. Derision, public shaming, and ostracism are fundamental to the maintenance of the social contract. How else can we moderate extremists? The denazification of Germany was effective because they didn’t shy away from these methods.

      He’s 1/3 Hitler 2/3rds dictator

The kind of people who actively vote for him probably aren’t the most charitable people

I agree to an extent. I feel the difference is it’s popular in conservative culture to do things simply to “own the libs”, even if that behavior is self destructive. Actions primarily meant to harm others celebrated simply because they hurt others shouldn’t be condoned.

If the pursuit of a more just and equitable society results in the tears of fascists, misogynists, and/or racists, I’ll gladly bathe in them.

Hell yeah on Trump getting what he deserves. But I don’t think gloating posts like these are good in the long run. They tend to just polarize things more in my experience. We need less us vs them.

We tried that. It didn’t work. They just said “fuck your feelings”, they said “cry your liberal tears”. Everyone most people tried to take the high road, show that “we’re better than that”. But it didn’t do a lick of good. So I’m gonna enjoy this win and gloat about it.

Absolutely. The divide isn’t going to be solved any time soon.

I respect those who choose the high road, but acting in good faith and expecting reciprocation is what they love to dunk on.

No, I think I’ll go on gloating to these unhinged sycophants that their godking is now a convicted felon and their whining and tears are so very satisfying.

The moment they decided to attempt a literal coup is the moment they solidified any polarization. That ship has sailed. Now it’s time to see everything they worship fall apart.

        No quarter for traitors.

Now, we should be mindful. Some of these people are misguided or misinformed, but there’s also people who are acting in bad faith. For these, you can’t convince them. They fundamentally disagree with human rights, rights in general, and democracy.

I’m A-OK with making fun of modern day Nazis.

I would say that by now, nearly 10 years after all this nonsense began, anyone who is still misguided or misinformed is being that way willfully.
