If this happens to you constantly, consider asking an audiologist to be tested for auditory processing disorder. It’s a little trickier to diagnose than straight up hearing loss because your hearing abilities are unaffected, so it doesn’t get pinged on those hearing tests they have you do at school.
There’s not really anything you can do about it other than intentionally practice picking out different sounds to try to beef up the part of your brain that’s slacking, but knowledge is power and all that.
I am pretty sure I have that because the problem isn’t that I don’t hear them; it’s that it took extra long for my brain to actually process what my ears heard.
We did them a time or two in elementary/primary school. They put headphones over your ears and play some beeps and you raise your hand when you hear beeps. That’s how they did it 30ish years ago, anyway.

Schools have hearing tests?
Depends on the school, I definitely did do hearing tests in school, and was able to hear tones I was told humans should not be able to.
…still can’t hear shit when people talk to me, and couldn’t back then either.
