Same. I went from one overly complicated Debian install to two dozen neat and self contained VMs that do one thing each. I even tricked a Windows VM into not knowing that it’s a VM, so I can game with anticheat games.

Java was my first language over ten years ago. I haven’t touched it in a decade (I’m mostly a hobbyist). I am grateful that I had to type all that shit out, and grateful that I don’t have to anymore (I’ve been using python since then).
I just recently helped a younger friend with their Java homework. I had to Google the syntax, but otherwise helped them ace it. I’ve mostly used Python since then, but learning java gave me such a good base of the fundamentals
You know that you dont have to pay for a Windows license right? You can permanently activate it (and any version of office) with a script. I found some article a while ago talking about it, some official Microsoft tech support used it because they were frustrated with Windows, so it’s legit
I do computer repair/tech support for just a small business. I haven’t used Windows on a a personal machine in a looong time, but that script helps me when I get stuck at work
Same! Like eight years now. I never really tried anything else, it clicked so fast and is so intuitive
Maybe you could sync the file with Syncthing or Nextcloud. And sqlite is the default android db type… I’m tempted to give it a shot, I just started looking for a solid self hosted note taking thing
Hah that’s actually two different episodes, but they took place at the same time
Until they are nuked as they should be
Ayy nice, good call. Everyone needs some Matt Gourley in their life
Ayy Debian has been my main for like ten years. Dtrx is one of the ten things I apt immediately every time I have a re install
Broken how? I work at a computer repair shop, and I’ve worked on dozens upon dozens of phones. I have different advice based on if it’s the screen, digitizer, or whatever that’s not working
Don’t touch it! I’ve been working at a repair shop for a while, leave it unplugged and write down the pin.
If you want more specific advice, let me know the model of the phone. Most phones should power on if the battery is removed and it’s plugged in. I can talk you through data recovery if you want
You definitely can. Podcast Addict has per podcast override settings
Oh shit it’s Scott Aukerman’s evil twin
That’d probably be fine. I mean I haven’t tested it a lot, but I think the secret sauce is just that it’s all bass from the subwoofer. Let me know how it goes
Logitech z313 is what I got, I just checked my order history and it was like $57. I’m going to try to track down a link for the audio file I use. I have the file, but I don’t remember the source
I’m a reddit refugee who always lurked. Hah I’m trying to be more active on Lemmy so imma take that as a compliment
Yoo check out my other comment. I play a brown noise through a subwoofer (no speakers) under my bed. It sounds exactly like the warp engines
Not too weird, but I found this accidentally: a subwoofer under my bed (the speakers that came with it broke)
I found a ten hour long brown noise mp3 that is set to loop indefinitely on an old burner phone. Through the subwoofer it sounds exactly like the warp engines from Star Trek TNG. Incredibly comforting, and hard to sleep without
My computer wasn’t booting properly for a month or two, I think it was saying boot drive not found or something. It would work if I went into boot options and picked my main drive.
The cause? I used the Blu Ray drive for the first time in years, and for some dumb reason, that was listed higher in the boot options. My computer was trying to boot into a Blu Ray of Blade Runner
I don’t have a good primary source, its been a lot of disparate googling. But if you have any questions at all, let me know. I love helping
