  • Fuck Rockstar. I changed my email accounts but forgot to change Rockstar first. Now, after buying GTA V on Xbox and Steam and sinking a lot of time into it over two accounts, they added some mandatory launcher on Steam that forces you to login to their Social Club. Mandatory launcher calls an account that I can’t unlink, triggers mandatory 2FA to an email that doesn’t exist. The cunts refuse to help despite my willingly handing over a lot of private information - their support system is as good as fake. The end result is I have sank >£100 in buying their games and they ensure that not only do I not get to continue my account on GTA V, but I have been permanently locked out and actually impossible to play any Rockstar Social - walled game on Steam.

I have the same issue with Activision, and here’s the kicker. They’re exactly the same support blueprint. Same support. Same result. Same fake-ass Western names on their signature.

    An article on the subject

Yesterday I found an incredibly convincing fake of a ragepost (on Lemmy - couldn’t find it again so sourced it from Facebook). Reverse analyzing the details revealed that the selfies were modified to increase duckface, a pile of cigarettes were added for the narrative, and an accompanying news report screenshot was expertly modified using two different articles and changing many details. I can’t in good faith believe any social media meme after this:

All the selfie captions are fake.

  • My main gripe is Windows Defender. I have an app that integrates with Home Assistant and Windows keeps flagging a component as a Trojan virus. Makes sense, as it’s supposed to access admin level functions to read some sensors and enable remote power control.

But for years I’ve seen MsMpEng.exe, or the antivirus, constantly scan my 4TB HDD, either looking for viruses or doing some stupid NTFS remapping thing. It’s loud and only spun up when idle on Win10, but became more aggressive on Win11 with less time to start scanning and not stopping when I move the mouse.

The latest development with breaking my app just means I’m more vigilant in turning the entire antivirus off when it turns on and starts scanning.
