Awesome. Normies are getting sucker punched left and right. Keep it up, Google!
We should start writing epitaphs for the 99% who will SURELY die from this DEADLIEST PANDEMIC IN HUMAN HISTORY. Run for the hills, guys!
This is when the child should be told about the concept of “looking busy”.
Hit a nerve? I stand by my assertion that “tech in education” initiatives by predatory vendors is akin to grooming children. Get them to speak the language of your product early, so that they’ll be a customer for life. IIRC the term is called “Cradle to grave marketing”[1] [2]. Leverage imprinting along the way for good measure. I get why the Googles and the Microsofts of the world are so eager to get their products into schools. That doesn’t mean that I agree with it.
There is no best. Only least worst. Pick your poison:
AMD: Libre driver stack, require firmware blobs.
NVidia: Proprietary driver stack (kernel driver component slowly being opened), proprietary firmware exists in ROM on card so doesn’t need to be loaded at runtime.
Intel: Libre driver stack, same firmware issue as with NVidia, GPU performance generally sucks because iGPU constraints
I would say, in order from least-worst to most-worst:
AMD
Intel
NVidia
Others that I have considered, but are hopeless pipe dreams
Matrox - old, deprecated, dead, no longer in business?
S3 Chrome - assimilated into Centaur/VIA technologies, later bought out by Intel
Mali - don’t even kid yourself
Software rendering - you must be desperate
Aspeed and other 2D framebuffer solutions - good luck
Any and every “open source GPU” initiative - always dead in the water. NLnet recently pulled funding from LibreSOC because the lead dev spent more time begging for e-gold than doing any developmental work.
The irony of caring about this while simultaneously using post-2008 Intel CPUs or post-2013 AMD CPUs.
The term this story should have introduced everyone to is: “Trial balloon”
Logitech were just floating a trial balloon, that is all.
Games that required a memory pack in order to save were next to worthless in a household where one’s siblings would constantly clear the memory pack’s save data.
They might as well have just been tech demos
3D graphics on a mobile device (Gameboy Advance)
I don’t think I even enjoyed many of the games I played on GBA, just that I was obsessed with seeing how far the graphics could be pushed.
007 Nightfire Lego Drome Racers Medal of Honor
To name a few
If you can’t build it from source, you don’t own it.
Paying is just a courtesy.
The worst part about this IMO is the school system teaching digital dependency on proprietary software vendors.
Big tech salivates at the thought of being a child’s “first”… much like other kinds of child groomers.

Was at a red light with a cop behind me. Some guy rolls up behind them, braking just late enough that the front bumper of his car love taps the rear bumper of the squad car.
Both officers immediately jump out and open fire on the poor guy. He was hosed after a couple of rounds. The cops just casually get back in and drive off like it was nothing.
This was in Los Santos btw.
It is weird to observe younger generations using search engines with how they treat them as some sort of fully natural language processing butlers.
Where you or I might formulate a query as: “films famous within Italy” or simply “famous Italian films”
Gen alpha will generally conduct that same search as: “What are the movies that are most famous in Italy?”
It’s tempting to crank things up to 11 with virginity jokes. That one always gets the linux spaces roaring.
And with computer literacy on the decline, I wouldn’t be shocked to see in our lifetime a generation of people who conceptually cannot understand a local video file.
Leave it to conservatives to select something that demands a phone number.
There is a Chinese expression: “The ugly wife is a treasure at home”
It is possible ugly can be substituted for dull (mentally).
People foolish enough to use a centralized, proprietary technology getting what they deserve. I hardly see what’s wrong.
Apple should double down, in fact.
