Yes I was.In the current state they are useless for showing the images, but it might be better to keep them temporarily and use the changeset information to contact the original ‘uploader’ and see if they’d be willing to upload via e.g. @MapComplete (who have a @panoramax instance now).
iD should not be allowing the creation of these so I think someone should open a bug report if it isn’t already fixed.

That looks like something that should work in an HTML <img > tag, but doesn’t. Maybe it has been truncated?

Now that StreetComplete has overlay layers for places and things you can add most of the thing you’d want to add in person.
I know the author has already mentioned it, but MapComplete.org might be a good site to look at if you’re just starting and have local knowledge of an area. I know in my early days mapping that just looking at a list of map features would remind me about places that I’ve know about forever and never thought to put on a map. The MapComplete themes might have some obvious omissions that you can fix quickly.
Apple Maps uses OpenStreetMap data on n some countries.
IIRC At one point Google Maps would let you download a map for browsing, but you couldn’t do offline navigation. Don’t know if that’s still the case.
Organic Maps does the routing on the device.

No, this is against Google TOS and OpenStreetMap policy on data sources and the Data Working Group will step in and block any accounts doing this to protect the project as a whole.

I suspect that’s because if you read the post it looks like OP is a beginner and not an experienced editor.
Vespucci, JOSM and level0 aren’t getting mentioned either because they aren’t the best starting points.

Maybe, but they also seem to be making intermediate standards to make it easier to wean themselves off OSM.
It’s not clear yet if that is actually a goal or a side effect.

There is no real reason to break things up block by block unless the blocks have unique names or something. It’s also a pain to edit when the areas have been glued to the roads.So yeah, leave them big.

I think in its usual setting StreetComplete uploads as soon as you make it (if you have an internet connection). It can also be set to upload when you reach WiFi or manually.

StreetComplete does have a couple of quests for this that default to disabled so you can turn them on if you’re interested.

switching topics again are we?They rolled out a massive new warning type and then didn’t have all their apps accept it as OK. That is a deliberate choice. It is their ecosystem from top to bottom, they *chose* not to have the TetheredNet added to the list of allowed warnings in existing installs. If they hadn’t wanted to make that choice they should have done the responsible thing and held the rollout until their app supported it.
I would assume the same as the reason for warning about this in the first place? They don’t seem to like devs tying things back to preset websites and think it deserves a massive warning icon.

If you select a hotel found on Kayak it will add an affiliate link to Kayak in addition to the direct link stored in OpenStreetMap.

@sven @openstreetmap I think the tagging you’re showing *should* be fine, but as I think the
:forwardandbackwardtags aren’t as widely supported I’d put the lower speed as a genericmaxspeedfor that bit of road as well. That way simple software will default to the lower limit and more sophisticated software will use the correct one.
