Marinated tofu, double dredged with oatbuttermilk (oatmilk + vinegar), coated with breadcrumbs and seasoning, cooked in air fryer. Basmati rice on the side.
Not to take away from the food looking delicious, but “tofu nuggets” sounds like something a polite vegan would yell as a curse word.
Might adopt that, but it would probably just make me feel hungry
goddang that looks crisp 👌
It really was, maybe even too much for my fragile mouth!
That looks delicious, and bonus points for the rice being basmati.
Basmati is definitely one of my favorites currently, especially for something like this where the rice shines by itself (with a little soy sauce)
I’ve never seen air fried stuff look so delicious like fried food. Any tips to get that crispy gold look and texture?
Panko and oil. I think some people are scared of putting oil in the air fryer since it’s meant to be ‘healthier’ and whatnot, but any excess falls to the bottom anyway. I personally err on the side of a bit too much oil; for this dish I poured some onto each individual piece at the beginning, and then again after turning them half way through the cook. It’s also a good idea to cook hot, my machine goes up to 200 C and I pretty much always use full blast.
Really the only thing I’ve struggled to get crispy is fresh fries, though I might just be overcrowding the tray.
You know that makes a ton of sense. I’ll give it a try next time I cook.
Man that’s just begging for some sauce or a curry! Giving me some inspiration for dinner 🤤
Looks really good
Delicious? Yes I bet, but Tofu nuggets look and sound so cute! XD I’m sure you enjoyed them!
What are the proportions for making oatbuttermilk? Do you use white vinegar or something else?
It’s about 3.4% vinegar by weight. I mostly followed this recipe and used regular white vinegar
Thank you! I’m looking forward to trying it. It’s one of those flavor ingredients I’ve been missing.
