    I might be wrong but my memory suggests that Reddit was basically forced to eventually act in the removal of that sub and they let it and many other questionable subs linger and prosper for a long time until it became too big to ignore.

      They usually let them go until something blew up on mainstream news. For jailbait, it got in national TV news. Then it came down. Before that? Not a peep.

      CW: horrible subs Yep! Heres a brief list of subs they were forced to ban (I say forced because it took significant pressure always):

      • jailbait and its friends
      • coontown and its friends
      • fatpeoplehate and its friends
      • the_donald and its friends after inciting an insurrection (remember trumps AMA on it? Well you’ll never guess what was being promoted on it in the lead up to january 6th)
      • All of the cartoon CSAM subs
      • I think they enventually banned the beastiality subs after inventing quarantining for them (or was it for fatpeoplehate? I forget lol)
      • During gamergate there were lots of “organizing” subs which were enventually (after the massive amount of damage had been done) quarantined/banned years later

      Stuff they banned to look neutral:

      • me_ira
      • fullcommunism

      My memory is a bit hazy, but they would always trot out the big leftist sub at the moment for punishment in a spactacular “two sides” moment. The cherry on top is that redditors would always cry and nash of teeth “what about shitredditsays”. Honestly, spez has always been a libertarian ass and aaron swartz derserves better
