Master and Commander is such a great movie, and i think this is Russell Crowe’s best scene. He absolutely nails the drunk captain trying to hold himself together to trll his favorite joke and then cracks right at the end.
But if you haven’t seen the movie, absolutely watch it. The whole film is absolutely brilliant.

Fun fact the HMS Surprise in the movie was a real, seaworthy sailboat created for the movie. I think its berth is somewhere in socal now.
Ah correction: it was built in Canada and purchased by 20th Century Fox and heavily modified for the movie.
